Captain's Christmas Address 2021

Posted on Sat Dec 25th, 2021 @ 12:58am by Captain Maho Takahashi

To All Crew,

Well, here we are: The Myogi's first Christmas. It's been a rather tumultuous past 7 months: In the time since we launched back in May, we've seen a lot; I'm not willing to say we've seen it all just yet, but we've certainly seen a lot: We've seen players come, go, and come back, had a side mission that flopped due to lack of interest, currently have another side mission going that seems to be doing much better. Oh, and let's not forget the sudden change of fleets that happened just a couple weeks ago!

Still, despite all those challenges, I'm proud of how far the Myogi has come in this time, even if we still haven't left spacedock yet! I'd say we're currently about halfway through the mission, and I'd say we're on track to begin Trade Troubles sometime in the New Year.

Looking back over the events of this past year, it blows my mind that we're here now: That, over the course of a year, I've taken the Myogi from being an NPC ship in the Tokyo sim to being the PC ship of its own sim. If you had told me back in early March when I was first mulling over the idea of making the Myogi into its own sim that by year's end, my vision would be a reality, I would have been like 'awesome!'

I'll be completely honest; there were times early on when I was worried that the Myogi wouldn't make it to Christmas: Largely because I felt my players weren't interested enough to want to share in the stories I had in store concerning this old New Orleans class starship, and I'm glad to be proven wrong; because I feel, going into 2022, we have the best iteration of the Myogi's crew yet; and trust me, I've seen us go through quite a few iterations since launch.

As captain of the Myogi, I am grateful for all of the enthusiasm and dedication you all have shown, as well as your patience with me as I continue a major life transition, and I look forward to continuing the Myogi's story into the New Year. Perhaps in time we can come to be on par with our "parent" sim, the USS Tokyo.

As it is Christmas, neither myself nor Commander Misono will be readily available for the next 48 hours, as we will be spending Christmas with our parents as a family, and I hope that you all will be doing the same, and spending Christmas with someone important in your life. I will be back for tagging on December 26, otherwise known as Boxing Day for those of you who live in Commonwealth countries. Commander Misono, though she will try to be back on the 26th, can't guarantee anything for certain until the 27th.

In the meanwhile, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year! Stay safe and remember to drink responsibly, those of you who are of age!

Regards,
Maho Nishizumi Takahashi
