Mission: Captains and Contraband
Location: Ready Room, Deck 1
Timeline: After 'Reassignment (Part 1)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"Under Miyahara, we were more than just a crew: We were a family." Maho explained. "Then Starfleet tried to break that family by reassigning everyone. And while it's not been perfect under my leadership, I'd like to believe there's been some sort of restoration of the Starship Myogi family, and as head of that family, it's my job to ensure that everyone is happy and healthy."

Maho grabbed a PADD and pulled up on it the Myogi's available openings.

"Here's all our available department head and assistant openings:" She explained, sliding the PADD forward for Alisha to look at. "I won't ask you to fill our marine complement, because the corps would most certainly object to your appointment."

"And I wouldn't be much good to them." Alisha confirmed that she wouldn't want to join them as she accepted the PADD and finally sat down, "Just like being a security officer, I couldn't do the job properly. I wouldn't be able to be an engineer," She tabbed down the list, "Before I went into Intelligence, I started the Academy as a cadet in Flight Control, but I don't know if I could do that because of Jane, but I am certified on several shuttle types, mostly due to data pickups in remote regions." Her voice was trembling, "I did have significant time in a role as an Operations Petty Officer and three months posing as an Ensign in Science in Astrometrics. I do know the stars really well, both for astronavigations and makeup, because the role really needed in depth knowledge and I had to study hard for it."

The former Intelligence officer placed the PADD down gently on the desk in front of her, "I don't know.. I really don't know what I'd choose.. What do you think, Captain?"

And now, the continuation:

"Personally, I would recommend you take the lead as head of our Starfighter detachment:" Maho recommended, scrolling to the indicated job. "We're not a megacarrier like the Tokyo, but we are do have some starfighters on standby, and that's one of the departments that has really fallen into disarray since I took command of this ship. Shit, Lieutenants Kujo and Amaro practically have free reign over the damn department because there's no chain of command in place there. Your responsibilities won't always put you in the cockpit, so you won't have to fly all of the time."

"Not to mention that both of them could outfly me with their eyes closed." Alisha mentioned, then her brain started ticking. No one would really need to count on her if she took this offer and if she lost it completely, it would probably be just her who paid for it. But that wasn't what the Captain wanted from her. She wanted someone to take control of the department who wouldn't be intimidated by the egos of the pilots. As an actress, she could match egos if she needed to. But a fighter was to a shuttle what a motorcycle was to many cars and she'd proven that she could ride just as well as others could drive. Not to mention, 'Terri Knight' She reminded herself of the role. She could slip into that personae if she needed the extra boost AND she'd...

Finally, Alisha realized she'd been quiet for far too many seconds, "If you think I'm up for the challenge, I'll accept it. If it turns out I can't bring them into something that you're not ashamed to take out in public, we can always re-evaluate things, right?"

"Excellent. I'll go ahead and process your reassignment, then." Maho said, standing up and extending a hand for Alisha to shake. "Congratulations, Lieutenant."

What she wanted to do was to stand and pull Maho into a relieved hug of gratitude, but that would have been far too out of line. Instead she also stood wearily and took the offered hand in both of hers, grasping it firmly, "Thank you, Captain, I really don't know what to say... I guess I'll need to get a new set of pips, though, I... Don't want my old ones back. Bad memories."

At this point in Maho's pregnancy, the captain was getting a bit too big for Alisha to get her arms around anyhow:

"And a new uniform." Maho added, sitting back down and opening a drawer in her desk, pulling out a blue box and placing it on the desk in front of her. "These should get you started- though I must ask that you turn in your old rank pips in exchange. I'll send you the Starfighter corps dress code so that you may replicate yourself a new uniform."

"I've got the specs for the Starfighter group's uniform already, it's in the Intell-" Alisha cut herself off as she was going to say 'The Intelligence database', but she'd no longer have access to that. Her hands trembled as she reached out for the small box and opened it briefly to look inside and saw the two full pips, just like her old ones, but these just felt far more precious. She closed the box again and held onto them with both hands, "I'll find the old ones and bring them in for you, or I'll ask Alistair to find them while I clean my old office out. Thank you again, Captain, I really don't know how I can show you just how much I appreciate this."

"Lieutenant... Alisha: The way you can show me is by continuing to be the asset you have been to the Myogi family." Maho responded with a smile. "And to be there for Lieutenant Sinclair:" She added with a wink. "She's one of the best pilots the Myogi has had in years, and it would be a damn shame to lose her."

"It would indeed, ma'am." Alisha agreed with Maho, but for different reasons entirely. If Myogi lost Jane, it would hurt the ship, but if SHE lost Jane.. The result wasn't worth considering. "I'll see if I can't turn the fighter group around into something other than a never-ending party." The Lieutenant stood and gave Maho a precise bow, one with more confidence than when she'd walked in.

"That would be a step in the right direction:" Maho responded, returning the bow. "Dismissed."

As Alisha left the office, she held the pips in her hands as if they were the most precious thing in the world. This was another chance and she wasn't about to waste it.
