Mission: The Next Myogi
Location: USS Myogi (NCC-65918)

"She's not going to be happy about this, Commodore," Commander Anzai remarked as she rode the turbolift up to the bridge alongside Commodore Honda. She had only just recently been debriefed on the situation by both the Commodore and the third occupant of the turbolift- a tall, slender, ginger-haired Rear Admiral with a distinctive eye-patch- and the ramifications of what it would entail would undoubtedly not bode well for her soon-to-be-former Commanding Officer.

"Well, Takahashi will just have to adapt or die." The ginger Admiral responded. "Besides, I thought you were looking to move up in the world, Anzai?"

"That goes without saying, Ma'am," Commander Anzai responded. "But at a time like this? When we're staring down a threat that could potentially wipe us out in a matter of months?"

"We all need good officers right now, Anzai:" Tohru said. "The Oriskany is short-staffed because of these concerns, and needs someone to run their security department."

"And seeing as you already have experience aboard a capital ship having served on the Zodiac, you'd be a natural fit." The other Admiral, Soryuu, added.

"And I would be honored to be a part of this program, Admiral," Commander Anzai existed. "But with no immediate replacement for me so far as I'm aware, I can't help but wonder what this will mean for the Myogi..."

"Didn't you just tell me you didn't feel like you were fitting in here?" Tohru asked, confusion evident in her voice. "Why the hesitation all of a sudden?"

Commander Anzai paused. "I suppose that it's not so much that I'm going to miss them, Commodore, if that's what you imply," she stated rather plainly. "Rather, I'm just concerned about their overall well-being."

"Captain Takahashi's a tough bird. She's been through the fire before, and she'll adapt." Tohru reassured as they arrived at the bridge.

"Admirals on the bridge!" Someone called out as the trio stepped off the turbolift.

Everyone on the bridge stopped what they were doing and stood to attention.

"I believe you outrank me here..." Tohru muttered to Soryuu.

Nodding, Soryuu raised a dismissive hand.

"Stop staring at us and get back to work." She said bluntly.

Even Tohru was taken aback by this level of bluntness, but said nothing as the three made their way to the ready room doors.

Maho had been busy with the crew rotations that had been taking place, and hadn't expected the ready room doors to just open without the chime being rung, but when she looked up and saw the new flag officer uniforms stepping into her ready room, she understood why. Maho immediately recognized Tohru, of course, but the other admiral with her, Maho had never seen before.

"Commodore..." Maho nodded as her gaze went to the other woman's collar to determine her rank and the appropriate rank to address her as: "Admiral: What's all this about?"

"I'm afraid it has to do with me, Captain," Commander Anzai spoke up. "As per the orders of Commodore Honda and Rear Admiral Asuka Soryuu, I am being transferred over to Task Force Avenger, effective immediately."

A moment of silence passed before Maho spoke.

"I see:" She said, turning to Asuka: "Well, Admiral: You'll be getting a fine officer for wherever you need her."

"The USS Oriskany:" Asuka clarified. "Hard enough to keep an Odyssey class starship staffed under normal circumstances, but with this Iconian panic, we're running lighter than we should be."

"Odyssey class, huh?" Maho said, turning back to Anzai. "Well, I suppose I'm the last person you need to visit to have your transfer orders signed off on, huh?"

Commander Anzai raised an eyebrow. "You're not upset, Captain?" she remarked. "Even with the recent patrol coming up?"

"We'll manage. Not the first time this has happened, and it won't be the last." Maho nodded. "Though, friendly word of advice: Try not to overstep your boundaries on the Oriskany, yeah? I'm not sure if I can handle a blood feud against two ships."

Looking back to the two flag officers, Maho added: "I mean that in jest, of course..."

"I understand," Commander Anzai nodded. "And I would like to thank you once again for the privilege of having served with you."

Once Maho had signed off on Commander Anzai's transfer orders, she and Asuka left the ready room, but Tohru hesitated in joining them.

"Is there something else I can do for you, Commodore?" Maho asked.

"Actually, there is:" Tohru said, turning towards the doors. "Um... Could you..?"

Recognizing that Tohru wished to talk behind closed doors, Maho nodded.

"Computer: Seal ready room." Maho instructed. "Deactivate all sensors and recording equipment:"

With the computer beeping in acknowledgement, the doors clicked locked, and blast shutters lowered, blocking out the view of the starbase outside.

"Sorry to spring this on you, but there's something you need to know:" Tohru explained. "Admiral Tempest told me not to share this with my task force captains, because he doesn't want to exacerbate an already tense situation, but I can't do that in good conscience. You and the others deserve to know just as much as people like Aisaka."

"Go on..." Maho said.

"I assume by now, you've seen the report regarding a Romulan warbird that was ambushed and destroyed by Herald forces?" Tohru asked.

"I have." Maho nodded. "Quite disturbing that the Iconians possess the technology to detect cloaked ships."

Tohru nodded.

"Well, the warbird in question was a D'Deridex class, like the ones you fought at Braxus." She elaborated. "Given the amount of punishment one of those warbirds can take, you should be quite concerned that all contact was lost with the warbird within a matter of minutes from their detection by the Heralds."

"So, you're saying...?" Maho trailed off.

"The Romulan warbird didn't even have a chance to defend itself." Tohru completed. "If a vessel that could go toe to toe with a Galaxy class ship could be so easily destroyed, I want what the Heralds can do to a rinky-dink little New Orleans class in the back of your mind both for the upcoming patrol to Sector 811, and when considering Starfleet's new guidelines for civilians on starships."

"You're referring to the young Sakuragi that my Chief of Security recently adopted?" Maho asked.

"Not just her," Tohru looked down at Maho's belly. "But also, your own child. If you've not had the discussion with Keisuke already about it, I'd suggest you do so soon."

"We have." Maho responded. "My next course of action is going to be speaking with Doctors Ryo and Scott about when it would be safe to start building a stockpile of breast milk. She's going to need every drop she can, and Keisuke's going to have to alternate between it and formula if he's going to make it last the six months that are recommended after birth."

"Then, it seems you're already on top of things..." Tohru said, motioning towards the doors indicating that she wished to be let out.

"Computer, unseal ready room." Maho ordered, the computer beeping in acknowledgement and the doors clicked unlocked.

"Good luck on your patrol, Captain:" Tohru said in farewell as the blast shutters raised. "I've already debriefed Captain Hartmann on it, and you'll be able to make for Sector 811 as soon as the Akagi arrives in the system."

"I'll make note of that for my staff briefing:" Maho replied. "I hope Captain Hartmann doesn't require the... services of our doctor, though. I don't they're quite fond of each other..."

"Hartmann has her own doctor if she needs anything." Tohru said, stepping from the ready room without further word.
