Mission: Junichi Koyama
Timeline: After 'To Catch A Governor (Part 1)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

Takumi finished scaling the wall in time to notice the first of a line of cars turn the corner and begin making their way towards the away team. Leading the small convoy was a black R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R, followed closely thereafter by the recognizable profile of Shinji's Toyota Sprinter Trueno.

"I take it that's them?" Ichika remarked, stealing a glance at Takumi.

"It's them." Takumi nodded as the R33 pulled to a stop in front of the away team, with the others in the convoy stopping behind it.

Soon the air was filled with the sound of vehicle doors opening and closing as their occupants exited. Out of the R33's passenger seat stepped the man these people called their leader: Ichiro Sakuragi. He stepped around the front of the GT-R to meet with the away team:

"So, this is what Starfleet sends me?" He asked, sizing up the mere five officers standing before him. "A little light for an assassination, don't you think?"

And now, the continuation:

Ichika stepped forward and cleared her throat.

"Mister Sakuragi, my name is Commander Ichika Misono, and I am the Starfleet officer in charge of this task force," she began. "For starters, I would like to clear up any preconceived notion that we are here to kill anyone; more precisely, we are enlisting your assistance in the Governor's apprehension so that he may stand trial for his crimes."

Ichiro's eyes narrowed.

"You realize you're making a mistake by taking that crook alive, right?" He asked. "The only place he belongs is six feet in the dirt, like the people he's murdered."

"And like I told you earlier, Ichiro, Hartley has clearly violated the laws of the Federation and must be held accountable." Ami got out of the Sprinter behind him where she'd been a passenger but also armed, just in case. "We want him alive, but we won't just let him escape either. If it were a matter of just killing him, that'd be easy, but alive he can die a public death again and again as everything he's tried to do crumbles to dust."

"I'm afraid that matter is for a Jury to decide, Mister Sakuragi," Ichika informed him. "As it stands, our authority as Starfleet Officers does not extend towards orchestrating a political assassination, and if you're not willing to abide by our terms, then we have nothing further here to discuss."

Shingen and Kiyohira stayed back, crouched, listening in but watching the perimeter. Things could go south very quickly for them.

Ichiro proceeded to bum and light a cigarette from his pack, exhaling a puff of smoke before finally speaking:

"Fine." He said. "We'll do it your way, then: The order of succession will still take place if he's removed from office, and we'll still stand a better chance under Pryce than we ever did under Hartley."

"Your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated, Mister Sakuragi," Ichika nodded. "Now, I'm going to need layouts of the venue in which the rally is being held, as well as the surrounding infrastructure; any topical maps you could provide us would be helpful."

Nodding, Ichiro turned to the driver of the Sprinter behind the R33.

"Inui- fetch the plans, my boy!" He ordered.

Nodding, Shinji proceeded to open the trunk of his Trueno, and grabbed from it some rolled up blueprints. Shinji appeared to remove something that had been rolled up in them before rolling them back up and bringing them forward- laying out the plans for the Zednor Bowl Performing Arts Centre that was located right around the corner on the hood of the R33.

"There's a police roadblock past the main parking entrance." Ichiro pointed out a white 'X' marked on the roadway outside the venue. "If you roll up to that, their orders are to turn you around unless you visually look a threat to any of the speakers."

Ichiro looked up at the phaser rifles the away team was armed with.

"I'd say by the heat you guys are packing that you wouldn't exactly look subtle." He added. "If you're lucky, they'll arrest you once you drop your weapons. If you're not..." Ichiro looked intensely at Takumi. "Well, let's just say they'll shoot you on sight."

"Then we're going to have to avoid that area like the plague," Ichika surmised. "Unless there's a way we can enter the venue discreetly..."

She glanced up and spotted a pair of two white Toyota HiAce panel vans lingering at the back of the convoy.

"Those vans over there," she pointed out. "Are you planning on using them for anything?"

"Hmm?" Ichiro muttered as he turned towards the vans for a second before turning back to Commander Misono. "Don't tell me you're seriously considering smashing through the barricade: Not exactly a discreet entrance, wouldn't you think?"

"Hardly, Mister Sakuragi," Ichika responded. "Rather, I'm thinking we can use them as a tactical command center with which to coordinate this operation, as well as being our eyes and ears for the Performing Arts Center."

"That's an idea..." Ami murmured to herself as she listened to the conversation. She'd come dressed in civvies again, but something more practical for what may be coming than a dress, a discreet hand phaser for protection as well, "I saw a couple of Mark 4 camera drones back at your base camp Ichiro, did we happen to bring them along? We could use those for surveillance and scouting ahead of our projected path and I could set up a post in just about any of the cars or vans in just a few minutes."

"Hmmm..." Ichiro pondered a moment. "Did those journalist fellas by any chance join us? They're the ones that brought that kit with them, they'd know how best to work it..."

"I don't know if it'll help or hurt, but there's something going on with the power systems down there, everything's all kinds of glitchy. If that factors into your plan in any way.". This woman was sitting against the back while listening, while getting a laceration over her left eye treated. She was going to have quite the impressive black eye when she was done

"Excellent," Ichika replied. "If we time it just right, we may be able use that to mask our transporter signals when it comes time to extract the Governor."

She turned back to Ichiro. "Do you know of any vantage points nearby that may offer us an unobstructed view of the venue?"

Ichiro nodded towards the large berm that loomed over everyone.

"That berm was constructed along with the housing development to block out some of the sound of the performing arts center." He explained. "It might offer a decent view of the parking lot, but not to the stage structure itself."

"That'll do just nicely, Mister Sakuragi," Ichika nodded, before turning her attention to Tristana, Shingen, and Kiyohira. "You three; are any of you good at hitting targets from a distance?"

Shingen lifted his hand. “I am, ma’am.”

Kiyohira nodded. “He’s one of the better ones, Commander.”

"Perfect," Ichika nodded, before turning to address the group. "Alright, listen up! Here's how things are going to go down:"

She reached into her satchel and puled out a thin, dart-shaped object.

"This here is a pressure-sensitive transporter tag," Ichika explained. "It contains a built-in transceiver that communicates its position with the Myogi's transporter systems in real time; once the tip is depressed, it automatically activates a transporter signal that beams the tag- and all objects attached to it- to the coordinates of our choosing."

She handed the tag to Shingen.

"Once Petty Officer Miyazawa gets into position, we'll take our places and await the Governor's arrival," Ichika continued. "Because we know for a fact that Gamma Zendorian Law Enforcement utilizes transporter inhibitors, we'll utilize the venue's power systems to our advantage- perhaps manipulate in such a way as to create a dampening field that will mitigate the effects of an inhibitor.

"Once Governor Hartley arrives, Petty Officer Miyazawa will hit him with the transporter tag; if we receive confirmation from the Myogi that Governor Hartley has been successfully beamed aboard, that's when we'll orchestrate a mass beamout- the away team will be returned to the Myogi, and the resistance will be beamed to a safe location. Is everyone here clear on the game plan?"

The group nodded in affirmation.

"Excellent," Ichika nodded contentedly. "Well, if no one here has any further objections, let's move out! Tristana, you'll be with me in the first van; Kabuto, Fujiwara, you'll be in the second!"

"I'm with you, ma'am." Ami trotted back over, holding one of the journalist's camera drones, checking over something on the internals before shutting the access panel, pressing a button, then tossing it ahead of her to float and pulling out a PADD. I'm going to steer this ahead of us by about two hundred meters, then have it join the rest of the press drones while we're getting into position. We can monitor the whole situation.

"Yes, ma'am." Takumi and Tristana nodded in unison.

As Shinji rolled up the plans for the venue, Ichiro made his way back to the passenger seat of the R33. Aside from the vans, they would need to clear the area, as modified Japanese sports cars were magnets for attention.

As Ichiro buckled himself in, the R33's owner climbed into the passenger seat.

"Are you sure you're okay with this, Sir?" His driver asked. "You're just going to let them waltz right in and take control of our operation, just like that?"

Ichiro took a puff of his cigarette.

"No."

[USS Myogi, Observation Lounge]

Due to the situation with Yaeka, Kurumi was back on 'light duties'. She was sitting in the observation lounge, within hands reach of the bridge if she was needed. She stared down at the planet below out of the viewports. Her gaze changed over to look at Yaeka.

Yaeka was sat at the table a crayon in her hand and several pieces of paper scattered on the table in front of her. She was humming to herself as she drew and coloured. A half empty glass of fruit juice, complete with a straw sat to one side.

Kurumi couldn't help but feel warm inside as she saw that Yaeka was smiling a little. She tapped on her PADD she was holding, it was linked to the ship's computer. From here she could monitor the away team, although she would have liked to be on it, she had other priorities at the moment. She was also reading through the official adoption process in order to gain full custody of Yaeka.

She looked briefly at the door. Captain Takahashi had offered to drop in regularly to provide any updates and see how Yaeka was starting to adapt to her time on the Myogi.

To be continued...
