Personal History
| Personal History | From the time Victoria was a child, she'd had only one real obsession: The sport of ice hockey. Her father encouraged her in this desire, though her mother, jealous of her brother's daughter, didn't approve of her DAUGHTER joining her brothers playing ice hockey and wanted her to become a figure skater. It was an argument when Victoria was eight years old, between her parents and her, when it was agreed that she could go ahead and be a hockey player, so long as she spent an equal amount of time on the 'elegance' of figure skating. True to her form, she excelled at both, turning into a rather good center that won nearly eighty percent of her faceoffs and had a nasty slapshot, then during that offseason becoming a dazzling figure skater who used her moves both on and off the hockey rink. She was sixteen when she placed fifth in her Regional competition and missed the Olympic Games, then abruptly quit her figure skating 'career' and focused exclusively on hockey and trying to get into Starfleet Academy, to play on their team. She began to play pro hockey in 2378 with the Hartford Wolfpack in the AHL, but quickly found herself outclassed despite her skill with the puck, picking up only 12 points in 25 games with the team. In 2379, she took her Academy test and while she did well in some areas, completely bombed others and her application for the Academy was rejected. Instead of giving up and trying to focus more on playing professional playing hockey, the next year she applied to enlist in Starfleet rather than make a second attempt at a commission. She was accepted and her aptitude tests guided her towards the engineering track of the training, where she rapidly became proficient in the computer systems of the Fleet. Having been shipped to Mars for her training, she was assigned to the Utopia Planetia Shipyards for her first tour of duty. She rose in the ranks rapidly there, showing her capabilities as being a well-organized woman, two years later hitching a ride aboard the USS Glamdring, an Akira-class starship, after she'd completed a major refit at the Yards. Once there, she again began climbing the enlisted ranks, beginning her tradition of wearing skirts while making a name for herself in programming. A six year tour on the Glamdring ended when she was transferred to the Warspite, a Galaxy-class ship as one of the more senior enlisted personnel, in charge of the computer systems sub-group of enlisted personnel, taking a few of the brand new enlisted crew under her wing. It was here that she started thinking of family more than before and before she was transferred, had asked her Chief Engineer about what it would take to possibly become an officer herself.
