Personal History

Personal History Takumi Fujiwara was born June 26, 2366 on Luna in the middle of an ugly divorce between his parents; a tofu store owner on Earth and a yard engineer at Utopia Planitia, and the subject of an equally ugly custody battle that took the better part of the first two years of Takumi's existence before his father Bunta finally won full custody rights over Takumi, and was able to bring his son home to Gunma from the court-ordered neutral ground of Luna.

Takumi had a relatively normal upbringing under a single parent until he was 13, when he began delivering tofu for his father using Bunta's old Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT APEX AE86. Over the next five years, Takumi became an exceptional driver, and by age 18, everything came to a head when Takumi unknowingly crossed paths with Keisuke Takahashi of the Akagi RedSuns on a delivery run one night.

Takumi's later defeat of Keisuke during an official battle would put him on the map as the racer to beat by all the local racers, including Takeshi Nakazato of the Myogi NightKids. As Takumi grappled with his identity as a street racer, Takumi kindled a relationship with an Andorian classmate named Natsuki. However, it would be brought to his attention that she was engaged in compensated dating with an older salaryman, which would lead to a long and somewhat ugly breakup.

Once Takumi came around to accept his identity as a street racer, he would join Ryosuke Takahashi's team, Project D alongside Keisuke, which he would participate with for a year until the team disbanded in 2385. That year, Takumi's mother would be killed in an accident at Utopia Planitia. Following Project D's disbanding, at the age of 20 in 2386, Takumi would go into professional racing, where he would see relative success until 2389, when during a practice run, his car's driveshaft snapped, resulting in a rather violent accident. Though modern medicine was able to mostly heal him, unfortunately, Takumi was left with a permanent limp and slouch, reliant on a walking stick for mobility.

However, not all was doom and gloom for Takumi during this time, for he married a professional golfer shortly after his accident, and she would take care of him and support him during his time in rehab.

No one really knows why Takumi joined Starfleet in 2391, as he was always keen to shy away from the subject. Some say he did so at the encouragement of his wife, others say he did so for himself to turn his life around after his accident. However, none of these rumors have been conclusively confirmed by Takumi.

Throughout his Academy tenure, Takumi was often mocked for his disability, being called "old man" and other diminutive names. However, he didn't let it bother him, which earned the respect of his bullies.

Takumi graduated from the Academy in 2395 with the rank of Ensign and was assigned to the USS Myogi as a flight control officer, as the Myogi was currently in need of one.

Medical History Takumi has mobility issues, relying on a walking stick to get around. He also has a different posture than when he was younger. Both are due to a racing accident. However, he has been cleared to fly by Dr. Eugene Brighton of Starfleet Medical:

Note from Dr. Brighton of Starfleet Medical:

"Ensign Fujiwara has a permanent slouch and limp from a racing accident, and he relies on a walking stick for mobility and assistance getting around, which at first seems quite unusual for someone so young until you view footage of his accident and his records from the hospital that day.

The fact that a slouch and limp is all that Ensign Fujiwara was left with after a crash that severe causing such extensive injuries is a testament to modern medicine. If he knows how lucky he is to be alive and walking at all after a crash like that, he is surprisingly humble about it."
