Personal History
| Personal History | Kiyohara was born in 2368 in a predominantly Japanese region on Alpha Centauri VII — where the colonists did their best to retain their heritage away from Earth. Growing up next door was Shingen Miyazawa, the boy who would become so close as to be a brother. When they did well in school, it was together. When they got into trouble, it was together, usually with Shingen being the cause and Kiyohara helping solve the problem. They played sports, and Kiyohara’s preferred games were American football and boxing. Kiyohara was also close to his younger sister, Kami, keeping her entertained as a young girl and keeping her safe as a teen. At the end of high school, certain advisors recommended that Kiyohara go his own way, apart from his friend. But when Shingen enlisted in Starfleet Security, Kiyohara could do nothing else. In 2386, Kiyohara and Shingen were both shipped off to Earth for initial security training. They then apprenticed together on Luna. They spent five years, from 2389 to late 2394, aboard USS Atlantis — a science vessel with limited opportunities to flex their muscles, which Kiyohara found calming. Keeping scientists safe was good work, but his friend chafed under it. In early 2395 they accepted transfers to the USS Myogi. Security chief Tristana brought his friend a sense of discipline and control that Kiyohara never could, and she herself was breathtaking. He was pleased to work for her security force. |
