Personal History

Personal History Ryosuke was born on December 12, 2361; the first child of Commodore Nobuhiro Takahashi and wife Toshimi. In addition to his father, his maternal uncle, Eikichi Tsugumi and his wife were also science officers in Starfleet, thus Ryosuke was considered "Starfleet Royalty" growing up.

From a young age, Ryosuke grew to admire his father, and the countless long nights Nobuhiro put in at the office, away from his son, and it became Ryosuke's dream to one day to become a great medical officer himself.

However, as Ryosuke grew older, two things distracted him from this dream: First was the ground car's obsolescence: Ryosuke wanted to prove the ground car's continued relevance by becoming one of the fastest ground car racers in centuries. To accomplish this, Rysouke bought and fixed up an antique 1990 Mazda Savanna RX-7 FC3S and began racing it on an all but abandoned mountain pass on Mount Akagi, where he developed a reputation and became known as the "White Comet of Akagi."

The second thing to distract Ryosuke from his dream was his younger brother Keisuke: Unlike Ryosuke, who had taken his Starfleet Royalty status in stride, Keisuke had let the constant bullying get to him, and had become a hardened delinquent as a result, often getting into firefights with rival gangs or authorities. Concerned for his brother's well-being, Ryosuke managed to convince Keisuke to give up the Bosozoku lifestyle he had been leading and purchase a 1993 Efini RX-7 FD3S and together, they formed the team the Akagi RedSuns.

During the RedSuns' early history, Ryosuke attended medical school in the daytime, where he met Kaori Roberts; a young American Japanese classmate whom he fell in love with. However, Roberts was already in an arranged betrothal to a Klingon who had come to collect reparations after a member of her parents had killed his father. The Klingon was also an exchange student at Ryosuke's school, and had actually bonded with Ryosuke over earth ground car touge racing, oblivious to their love triangle. However, once the Klingon discovered his fiance was cheating on him, he was furious, and threatened harm to her family in retaliation. Under intense pressure from her parents and fiance, Roberts decided to end it all by committing suicide, but not before leaving Ryosuke a final message explaining her motives. In light of Roberts' suicide, the Klingon slaughtered Kaori's parents and considered that his reparation before he was apprehended, and Ryosuke decided to suppress that chapter in his history.

Ryosuke would later meet his match on Mount Haruna; losing on a downhill run against Takumi Fujiwara; the young driver of a Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86. Ryosuke saw potential in Fujiwara, to help take his vision to new heights, and so, some time after his loss (and after Takumi's 86 had gotten overhauled following the destruction of its engine on Ryosuke's home course) he approached Fujiwara and asked him to join a new expeditionary team he was assembling to succeed the RedSuns; Project D.

However, by the time of Project D's formation in 2384, Ryosuke lost his aunt and uncle to a tragic accident, and his high school aged cousin moved in with him and his family, as she had nowhere else to stay. At that time, Ryosuke had also put in an application for Starfleet Academy, which had been accepted, and he could only delay for a year.

For that year, Project D traveled around Japan's Kanto region, challenging and defeating various teams and claiming record after record, ultimately remaining undefeated by the time of the team's disbanding in 2385.

Following the disbanding of Project D, Ryosuke entered Starfleet Academy. As Ryosuke had already attended medical school prior to joining Starfleet, he was permitted to skip Starfleet Medical Academy, and graduated at the rank of Lieutenant JG in 2389, after which he was assigned to Starbase 472 as a medical officer.

In 2391, Ryosuke accepted a promotion to full Lieutenant as well as a reassignment on board Starbase 472's resident Defiant class starship; the USS DeForest Kelley. As the Kelley had a smaller medical department; Ryosuke was within a year appointed to the Assistant Chief Medical Officer, as he stood out among the officers for his tireless dedication to his work; something which did not go unappreciated on the Defiant class starship.

In 2394, the Kelley was assigned to assist the Galaxy class USS Europa for two years before returning to Starbase 472 by 2396. During the year and a half the Kelley and Europa were running mates, Ryosuke made several acquaintances with members of the Europa's medical department, which came in handy for bouncing ideas back and forth between the two ships.

In 2395, Ryosuke received word that Keisuke, now the second officer on the USS Myogi, had gotten engaged and was planning on getting married once the Myogi was due back in the Sol system after work along the Romulan Neutral zone wrapped up. However, as Ryosuke was in deep space on assignment, he was simply unable to abandon his duties to attend his brother's wedding, and sent Keisuke his well wishes.

In early 2396, The Europa was transferred to Theta Fleet. With the Kelley's mission being voided by the Europa's transfer, the Defiant class starship was under orders to return to Starbase 472. However, Ryosuke decided to apply to help staff the Europa's medical department; something the Europa's new owners seemed to desire, as his application was approved.
