A Year of Myogi

To All Crew,

Saturday, May 22nd, 2021. It was on this day one year ago that an amazing sim launched. And that sim, of course, is this one: Originally an NPC ship in the USS Tokyo sim, and my very first simming character's initial assignment out of the Academy, the Myogi's time as its own sim kicked off one year ago today. Though the Nova considers March 22 our anniversary, I consider today our launch anniversary.

Though we've had plenty of crew come and go over the past year, I'm happy to report that a year later, most of our launch crew is still with us; though Commander Misono and I are the only ones who have been with the sim the entire time, I still thought it would be fun to gather the launch crew with the characters as they were at the time and deliver updates on what happened over the past year. So, without further ado, here's the first edition of USS Myogi Launch Crew: Where are they now?

Starting of course, with the obvious:

-Mike (Commander Maho Takahashi) - Original Commanding Officer. Was finally promoted to Captain five days after the official anniversary on March 27, 2022. Ironically, almost a full year after I originally promoted myself to Captain mistakenly thinking I could start at that rank.
-Will (Commander Nao Tomori) - Original Executive Officer. Left July 21, 2021. Rejoined December 15, 2021. Now plays Ensign Ruby Kurosawa, Chief Operations Officer. Will's departure and return are documented in previous news items.
-Matt (Lieutenant Commander Ichika Misono) - Original Third Officer. Hastily promoted to both Commander and Executive Officer following the departure of Will on July 21, 2021.
-Wes (Lieutenant Brandon Pratt) - Original Chief Engineer. Left June 9, 2021. Rejoined September 21, 2021, after Andrew (Lieutenant JG Jane Sinclair) joined the Myogi. In Wes' absence, the position of Chief Engineer became something of a revolving door position: We had 3 subsequent applicants for the position, one was on the day of Wes' rejoining, and was rejected. All three of the applicants have since deleted the Discord accounts they used at the time.
-Ben (Ensign Connor Talmage) - Original Chief Science Officer. Left around October 13, 2021. Rejoined November 29, 2021. After looking at dates on a calendar from last year, I realized how amazing Ben's timing was: If he had waited just 9 more days to come back looking to rejoin the Myogi, assuming other events still played out the same, the Myogi would have been gone.
-Ieuan (Lieutenant Satt) - Original Chief Security/Tactical Officer. Left December 14, 2021 due to the CO of a sim he was XO of bailing on the sim overnight. From doing minimal research as well as some guesswork, I've deduced that that sim must have been Deep Space 3, now the USS Oberon.

To commemorate the launch crew still with us, I'm rolling out a brand new award to show my appreciation: The Launch Crew Commendation, which I shall be handing out after this news item goes live:



Congratulations to all our launch crew still with the sim! I am honored that so many people from around the world have shown interest in wanting to share in the stories that some kid from Chicago who is still learning Star Trek wants to tell that involve a fifty-two year old New Orleans class Starship. I am honored to be your captain.

Here's to (hopefully) a great many more years together as a sim!
