January 6

To all crew:
3 years ago today, on January 6, 2021, an angry mob of former US President Donald Trump's supporters attacked the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C. in an attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 US Presidential election and formalizing the victory of President-Elect Joe Biden, the culmination of a seven-part plan by Trump to overturn the election.
If this sounds familiar to any of you, that's because it is: Our mission Insurrection was based heavily on these events. When I first created the Myogi as a sim, I had planned out that this was going to be a sim-changing event. In a sense, this was my way of processing what had happened that day by posing the question "what if something like this happened in Star Trek?" Evidently, it was a compelling enough premise, considering I wound up bringing by my calculations 11 other people along for the ride.
Today is also a difficult day for me personally, as five years ago today, I unexpectedly lost my grandfather, John Henry Koscher, at the age of 74. Born shortly after World War II had come to a close, John was an original Star Trek fan and overall sci-fi enjoyer, having watched The Original Series on its original run. It's no surprise, then, that his love of Star Trek would rub off on his daughter, my mother. And while I never had the opportunity to share Star Trek with him, as I only became interested in the franchise after his passing, I'm sure he would be quite proud of how far I've come as a Star Trek fan, leading others in our shared passion for this franchise. Perhaps the Myogi might even be his favorite ship... Next to the Enterprise, of course!
"You have been, and always shall be... My friend. Live long and prosper, John."
