New Mission - Indivisible

Posted on Thu Feb 20th, 2025 @ 4:43am by Captain Maho Takahashi

To all crew,

Captains & Contraband will be ending on a cliffhanger, and from this mission, we will be heading into the Season 2 finale: Indivisible. From here, we will finally be doing what people like Mikoto have been clamoring for in fiction and taking the fight to the Confederacy head on, so here's the mission brief for you all:

STM_Indivisible.jpg

Screw the Prime Directive:

That is the sentiment following a series of Confederate-sponsored Elachi attacks within the territory of the Federal Rheuysian Republic. The attacks by Tanaka Miyahara's unrecognized breakaway state, which has seen the abduction of President Sinisiub Pallis, among other Starfleet and Rheuysian officials, has galvanized not just the Rheuysian Reichstag, but also the Federation Council as Pallis' Vice President is sworn in as acting President. The popular sentiment is clear: Tanaka Miyahara and the Confederacy of Independent Planets must be stopped.

Up until now, the Prime Directive has stood in the way of direct Starfleet intervention on worlds having declared secession from the United Federation of Planets, but with the swift swearing in of a new administration, the new President signs an executive order temporarily suspending the Prime Directive in regards to the Confederacy. The new orders are clear: Starfleet is to reclaim Confederate territory by force if necessary.

In the Rheuys system, the USS Myogi and her Task Force Jomo fleet mates, still reeling from the recent Elachi incursion and figuring out a plan to recover their lost crewmates, receives new orders: The Myogi is selected to lead a strike force against the Confederate capital of Braxus in a move to swiftly decapitate the Confederacy. Captain Takahashi, initially unsure of her capabilities to lead such a force, accepts once the USS Akagi and prototype USS Alita confirm that the retreating Elachi with their captured comrades were heading to regroup at Braxus.

The coming fight won't be easy, as the Braxus system has become the most fortified position in the Confederacy, and the Elachi and Tal Shiar aren't going to hand over their ally without spilling blood.

No timeskips this time, as we will be picking up right where Captains & Contraband leaves off. This is going to be our final push to bring down the Confederacy once and for all so that we may refocus our efforts onto something much bigger...

Participation Points Repeal:

Before we get into passing out awards, I'd first like to take a moment to address a policy of ours that has been controversial since its inception in October of 2023, and that is our Participation Points policy.

When I first introduced it at the end of The Fast & The Fleet, the goal of the policy was to help us transition to a faster-paced game by putting players' positions on the line and asking them to play the game if they wished to retain their spots. Now, almost a year and a half later, I believe we have managed to accomplish a decently fast pace. Everyone present on the game explicitly knows that the window of tagging is four days, and if the window is missed, the story rolls on without them.

So, as a treat to everyone who helped make this status quo change possible, the command staff has reached an agreement that the final points balance required for a passing grade is an easy 10 points. After which, the Participation Points policy as it stands will be repealed. And I'm happy to report that each non-exempt player has easily surpassed this required balance!

Final Participation Points Balances:

(Points only apply to posts one's player character has appeared in: Backposts and personal logs do not count towards participation points. Game masters are shown in red. Players exempt from Participation Points requirements are shown as [Exempt] instead of a shown balance:)

Captain Maho Nishizumi Takahashi: 30
Commander Ichika Misono: 15
Lieutenant Commander Kurumi Ebisuzawa: 18
Lieutenant Commander Brennyn Mackenzie Scott M.D.: 15
Lieutenant Ami Rori: 18
Lieutenant Moon Ji-Hee: [Exempt]
Lieutenant Kael Ryo: [Exempt]
Lieutenant JG Jane Elisabeth Sinclair: 26

And as a reward for getting us to this point, the final Keisuke Takahashi Fastest Typing in Kanto Award (prior to the award's fundamental rework beginning next month) will be awarded to all players. Congratulations, everyone!

Once this news item goes up, I shall get to all the usual business that comes with wrapping up a mission and getting a new one started. By now, you should know the drill: Any posts that are meant to take place during this mission will roll over to the next, and should be labeled as backposts.

That's all for now: Until next time, live long and prosper!
