I'm No Hero

Captain's personal log:

A lot has happened in light of the Gamma Zednor fiasco, and I am making this log solely for the purpose of record keeping:

First of all, my leadership abilities as commanding officer of the Myogi were brought into question, and I was brought before the Judge Advocate General to clear my name. I'm sure Captain Aisaka, wherever she is, would have laughed her head off to see me on trial, and might have complained even louder than Miyahara did that my trial was rigged in my favor.

During my trial, I am told that the adoption of Yaeka Sakuragi by Commander Ebisuzawa was finalized, aided by Yaeka's uncle surrendering himself to Gamma Zednorian authorities. I wish Commander Ebisuzawa the best of luck, and I hope that Yaeka is the key to her healing from her own trauma from the loss of her son...

The charges I brought against Lieutenant Sinclair have since been dropped, but Lieutenant Reno has agreed to a plea deal that would see her a demotion in rank and position to working on our flight deck. The result, I believe, is satisfactory, as some form of responsibility was taken for the Lieutenants' disobedience of a direct order.

To almost nobody's surprise, Ambrose Hunter Hartley was convicted on multiple counts of crimes against sentience and was sentenced to life on Certax without possibility of parole. And in a surprise move to save face, Hartley's daughters have disassociated themselves with their father. In a sense, it is poetic justice- for a man who orphaned many innocent children like Yaeka, to have his own daughters orphaned by his imprisonment disown him.

On the subject of the recovered data cards- Hartley to the very end denied knowledge of this Rheuysian gunrunning ring's existence. I'm sure his government was hush hush about it to protect their pending Confederacy membership.

Speaking of Gamma Zednor, things are looking up over there: Governor Pryce was sworn in shortly after we arrested Hartley, and her administration is on track to repeal much of the Junichi Koyama laws. Soon, the shit stain of a legacy Hartley left on the face of Gamma Zednorian politics will be wiped clean.

On a more serious note, our actions over Gamma Zednor have led Starfleet Command to relegate us to lighter duty here in the H'atoria sector, and leave dealing with member worlds calling for secession to other ships in Task Force Jomo, such as the Akagi and Kaga. For now, our crew seems to be taking well to the time away from front line work, and I can only hope that this time on lighter duty will further galvanize us when we return to it.

I close out this log with an editorial on Commander Anzai: I do not feel like she is integrating well into this crew. She performs her duties professionally and cooks so much Italian food I'm starting to tire of it, but she has yet to have a moment where she clicks and becomes part of the Myogi family. At some point, I may have to speak with Commodore Honda about reassigning her if this moment does not come soon enough.

To be completely honest, this has been one of the most draining assignments with which to handle to fallout over: I don't even think the attack on Starfleet Headquarters compares to this... In the words of Five Finger Death Punch: "I'm no hero, and I'm not made of stone." And frankly, I'm not even sure if I'm right or wrong anymore...
