Timeline: After "Old Rivalry, New Sport" and "Le Club Marocain"; simultaneous with "The Interview"

It was a while before Jane and Alisha could extricate themselves from the Silverstar suite. Alisha handled the checkout procedures while Jane returned to the ship. While both wanted to stay longer, life went on and work awaited them both.

Myogi wasn't going anywhere just yet but the Chief Flight Control Officer wanted to stay on top of her departmental affairs. Resupplying the shuttlebay (now that she had firm control, she was able to ensure none of Captain Takahashi's enemies stole anything from the ship again). Oversight of departmental staff, including their training and performance reviews -- she would surely need to meet with XO Misono about that in the next few weeks. Just because the ship wasn't being flown didn't mean the chief helmswoman had nothing to do.

Her own race was behind her, and after a fantastic and mostly-sleepless time with Alisha, she was beginning to come down from the high of her win. When it was time for a coffee break, she took a PADD to the mess hall and watched the recorded private feeds of the races she had missed.

The idea of contacting the press didn’t end up coming to anything. By the time she was in any position to contact anyone, it wouldn't have mattered.

She wasn't done her coffee yet, so she opened the News Service. Matt Gow's initial coverage of Jane's race was still garnering attention -- fifteenth sports story overall, but today still the first one tagged Motorsports! -- and the video of the race, offered for on-demand consumption, was now up to fifteen million views.

From another table came the sound of young women giggling. Jane looked up and saw a six-top table seating three women and two men, Crewmen or Petty Officers all. Jane recognized the men, security officers Miyazawa and Kabuto, blushing hard and trying very hard to avert their gazes from her. Curious. These two had a type, normally being obsessed with Tristana (for obvious reasons) so their attention on her was, well, interesting. The women...were they teasing them? She recognized one, Petty Officer Ichihara, but not the other two. They were also making an effort to avoid Jane's eye.

The chief helmswoman's coffee was finally empty, so she got up from her table...

...and parked herself in the empty seat between Kabuto and Ichihara.

None looked her in the eye, all blushed, and the women worked so valiantly to stifle their laughs.

"Come on, girls," Jane said, teasingly. "Spill it."

"Sorry, Lieutenant," one of them said, struggling to get either word out among bursts of giggles. She slid her own PADD face up over to where Jane could see it.

It was an article from The Evening Snapshot, a tabloid Jane knew all too well (as a consumer and a subject).

LOVE IN THE FAST LANE

Coming off an exciting win in what might be a comeback to the sport, former Interstellar-One racer turned Starfleet Officer Jane Sinclair was seen having dinner at Spacedock's Le Club Marocain with actress Alexis Silverstar, and getting quite romantic!

Sinclair arrived first, wearing what appears to be a vintage sheathe dress in a style from the late 2250s and a pair of stilettos that made the Amazon from Proxima the tallest at the venue. Silverstar showed up a few minutes later, in a dark blue shoulderless number that we believe came from designer Sapphire Simpson, who famously made her dress for the Academy Awards when she won Best Actress for her role in 'Stardust Saga II: Terror From The Deep Dark'.

We at the Snapshot do love it when two super successful and super hot people come together, and so it was a joy to see them not only enjoy themselves, but also get quite lovey-dovey. They were last seen absconding from the restaurant in the direction of the express turbolift to the Cerulean, the highest rated hotel on Spacedock.

We haven't seen much of either of these two in the past few years. Jane Sinclair remains on the backup roster for Interstellar-One team Proxima-Renault, though hasn't raced for them since graduating Starfleet Academy in 2389. Alexis Silverstar, in the role of Elena Girardi, did a charity concern on Proxima Centauri II last Christmas, but otherwise has been out of the spotlight for years.

"Good pictures," Jane observed. "Not the worst written piece. Doesn't seem worth Shingen and Kiyohira's reaction though."

"Umm, you'll want to scroll down, ma'am," Mai said, holding her hand to her mouth to hold the laughter in.

Below the picture of the two walking hand in hand toward the unmistakable express lift for the Cerulean hotel, the article continued:

At the peaks of their careers, Sinclair and Silverstar have received their fair share of attention for their romantic antics.

Alexis Silverstar and her co-star Vega Dornier were often photographed hand to hand, lip to lip, skin to skin, whether in public displays of affection or something more serious. Long-time readers will recall their getting frisky on their balcony at the Emerald Flower hotel before the Betazed premiere of 'Lianna's Vision'. It's no wonder the rumours of their secret marriage proliferated as they did!

Jane Sinclair's most famous relationship was that with Andorian singer Oselias sh'Vennan. The latter was invited to the racing superstar's eighteenth birthday ahead of the 2379 Risa Grand Prix. The two stayed in a private beach side cabin and were seen getting incredibly romantic on the sand.

At the bottom of the page were two more images, short video clips playing on loops, obviously from some archive of salacious celebrity photos. Jane had never seen the first one before, but easily recognized Alisha as Alexis and Vega Dornier, her on him on a balcony, and though the angle of the camera blocked their private parts, the motion of their nude bodies made clear that they were caught in an act of love.

The other was instantly recognizable. Jane Sinclair, eighteen years old as of just the day before, on the beach. She wore nothing, but she was lying on her stomach on a towel, the curve of her ass and a bit of side-boob the lewdest thing visible.

The same could not be said of Oselias, also nude but sitting up and fully on display. She was straddling the back of Jane's thighs and intimately applying lotion to Jane's back. She leaned forward. She pressed up against Jane's back. She kissed Jane's neck, the racer grinning and then visibly taking in a sharp breath. She turned under her lover, her chest briefly visible before being smushed under Oselias's. The two began embracing intimately before the clip restarted.

It had actually been a calculated move. They had already been photographed making out, at the club and in more public spaces at the resort. They had wanted something more intimate, without going too far. They weren't releasing a sex tape, but a bit of saucy material in the press made for good publicity. Oselias agreed and was happy to oblige. Once the images were out there, and no further ones would be permitted, the two would enjoy their holiday — and each other.

So that’s why these two were blushing so hard, and the ladies were giving them such a hard time. I guess Miyazawa and Kabuto didn't expect to see two of the ship's senior officers naked and having sex and had reacted as two young men would.

“Alright,” Jane said, raising her hands to the air in a surrender pose. "What do you want to know?”

"What's Oselias sh'Vennan like?" asked one of the women.

"A very kind soul. Very sweet. She and I haven't been in touch in years though."

"Were Silverstar and Dornier really married?"

"No!" Jane felt as exasperated by that question as she knew Alisha got.

Mai squinted at the two young men. "If you don't ask, I will, and it'll be a lot more embarrassing for you."

It was Kiyohira who spoke up. "Are, uh, I mean...what are Andorian hands like?"

Jane couldn't help but close her eyes and hang her head at the question. Not quite the audacity, but the ridiculousness of it.

But she grinned, looked up at him, and decided to play along. "Cold, but in an incredibly good way." With that, she gave Kiyohira a wink and sauntered away from the group, listening to the sound of the women laugh at their friends.
