Max Gill had just concluded a call with his parents where he promised to visit them for his layover. Satisfied that everything on his extensive to-do list had been completed, Max decided to do a final check as he skimmed his PADD. His eyes widened. He had completely forgotten to report into the Chief Medical Officer for his onboarding medical screen! He had been so busy hitting the ground running that he had forgotten to situate himself appropriately. He sighed, anxiety somewhat filling his gut as he instinctively tapped his communicator.
=/\= Lieutenant Gill to the Commander Delling, Doctor do you have a free moment? =/\=
=/\= Delling here. I am just finishing up my lunch break, and Dr. Erebos is in sickbay if there is an urgent need. Otherwise, I will be free in 15 minutes. =/\= Victor answered the summons promptly from the lounge that he was currently in.
Max smiled. He could wait fifteen minutes.
=/\= Thank you, Doctor. I'll see you in fifteen if possible. I just need to conclude my onboarding medical screening. Lieutenant Gill, our. =/\=
Max was polite as he occupied himself for the next ten minutes. When the appropriate time came, he spent the next five traversing the hallways and decks of the New Orleans-class to reach Medical. Once arrived, he entered, looking around for the Doctor.
"Commander Delling?" he asked, looking around.
Victor entered at 15 minutes, and promptly found a young man waiting for him. "Good morning, Lieutenant Gill I presume?"
Startled, Max turned around, then relaxed upon seeing the Doctor. "Yes sir, that's me!" he greeted.
Chuckling, Victor gestured to an unused private bed, where they could activate a privacy shield and speak at whatever length they needed about the Lieutenant's health. "Have a seat Lieutenant."
Max had a seat. He saw the privacy shield go up and, for once, felt comfortable. He nodded to the Doctor.
"Alright, so typical routine procedure?" asked Max.
"Yes. Anything I need to know?" His smile was soft and he settled into the stool getting his scanner out.
"Nothing I'm aware of!" smiled Max. "I should be rather healthy, all things considered. Though I suppose your checkup will verify if I'm right or not."
"Quite right." He agreed with the man, his voice soft as he displayed the readout of the scans over his head.
A few minutes past and then he watched the display.
"Anything, doc?" Max asked, somewhat curious, but also impatient.
"Everything is within a standard deviation of normal, though your inflammatory markers are elevated slightly. I cannot at this time speak to a reason for that. In your journey here, were you injured or exposed to anyone who was ill?"
In his journey? Max thought hard for a moment. Then he shook his head.
"Not that I'm aware of, Doc," he replied, looking to Victor. "Come to think of it, though, I did come across a Bolian who was sneezing near the transfer station. Other than that I can't think of anything off hand."
"That could be enough to explain it" Victor said quietly, making a small note of it. "I don't know that it will amount to anything, but I suggest not pushing too hard for a few days. Get plenty of sleep."
"Thank you Doctor," Max said. He would do that. Almost as an afterthought he yawned.
"We can keep an eye on it easily enough" he reassured him. "You're cleared for duty, first thing in the morning and I'll make a note in your chart. "
