1,574 words; about a 8 minute read

Mission: Junichi Koyama
Location: Gamma Zednor Detention Center
Timeline: At the same time as 'Control Chaos"

Previously on Star Trek Myogi:

The chief lowered the phaser rifle. "Good." He said. "I know that you'd come to your senses Commander. Well done, you've taken the first step in the right direction."

He placed the rifle on the table and pulled out a PADD. "Insert your codes here." he said simply as he slid the PADD over to Kurumi. She hesitated at first but then took the PADD. It was a simple access area where she could put in any code she likes.

"Ok, here you go." She said as she tapped on the PADD. "This is the code you can use to access the Myogi's computer systems. It should allow you control of the ship. You'll need to transmit it directly to the ships subspace array for it to work."

"Good." The chief said with a smile. "Once we have operational control of your ship. I'm sure Governor Hartley will be pleased."

"Keep her here while I try these codes out."

"You don't trust me?" Kurumi asked with a sly smile.

"Not at all. If these codes don't work, we'll kill the girl." The chief told her. "So, you better hope they work. Because after we kill you, we'll make sure you join her. Your filthy blood doesn't deserve to carry the oxygen of this planet."

Kurumi sat back in her chair. She crossed her arms as she watched the Chief put the code into the computer terminal behind him. She watched as he uplinked the code she had provided to the computer.

The screen showed that the code was being transmitted to the Myogi. The Chief seemed a little impatient as he waited for a response. After a moment or two, he got his response. One he was not expecting at all.

And now the continuation...

The computer console beeped to comfort receipt of the transmission from the Starship Myogi. "How long does this take?" The chief asked.

"Any moment now..." Kurumi said with a smirk.

Without warning the console exploded, blasting the chief of away from it. Kurumi wasted no time in vaulting over the table and driving her boots into one of the guards opposite her. The two other guards hesitated and that's all that Kurumi needed. She rugby tackled the first and they became interwined, rolling and struggling on the floor.

Yaeka let out a high pitched scream of terror as she was held tightly by the other guard, the phaser pointed to her head. As they struggled, Kurumi and the guard exchanged blows, finally it was an uppercut from Kurumi that knocked the guard out cold.

"STAY BACK!" The third guard said, he pulled in Yaeka tighter, pushing his phaser rifle into the side of her head. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

"I did my duty. As a Starfleet Officer." Kurumi said. "This place is now under bombardment from my ship in orbit. Release her," she said with a slight growl in her voice as she pulled the phaser rifle from the hands of the knocked out guard.

"Move and I blow her brains out!" He threatened. "Put down the rifle!"

Kurumi ignored him as she visually checked the rifle. It seemed OK, and she set the power up. Unlike the Starfleet standards it didn't have a y real 'settings' just power level.

"Yaeka." Kurumi said softly. "It's going to be alright honey. I need you to be very brave right now and do what I tell you ok."

Tears formed in Yaekas eyes bit she gave a very small nod. "I need you to look at me Yaeka. Keep those beautiful eyes looking at my face. Don't look at this," she pointed to her rifle. "Don't look back either, keep looking right on me OK sweetheart. Keep looking right at me."

Yaeka briefly nodded. Kurumi aimed her rifle right at them both. The guard seemed surprised. "I'm ordering you to release her."

"No!" He stuttered. Kurumi could see the fear in his face, the panic he had. He didn't know what to do.

"Yaeka. Look at me." Kurumi said. Yaeka's gaze met Kurumis as the room shook and tiny parts of the ceiling rained down on them lightly. "Kerp those beautiful eyes on me. It's time to be brave now."

Yaeka nodded as she maintained the eye contact with Kurumi. There was a bright flash as an orange phaser beam missed Yaeka's head bya mere few millimetres. The intense heat cause Yaeka to flinch. She instantly began to turn her head as the man's grip loosened.

"Look at me sweetie. Keep those beautiful eyes on me..." Kurumi said as she lowered her rifle. The sound of the guard collapsing ro the ground and the smell of burning cloth and flesh filled the room. Kurumi approached slowly, crouched down in front of Yaeka.

Yaeka literally threw herself at Kurumi and burst out into floods of tears. She wrapped her arms around Kurumi tightly crying into her shoulder.

"Hey there. You beautiful brave girl. Well done." Kurumi said softly as she comforted Yaeka. She ran her fingers through her hair as she held Yaeka for a brief moments. "I know this is scary. But it's not over yet." She told her softly. "I need to ask you to be brave again and come with me." She took her hand and began to guide her out of the room, holding the rifle in her other hand. "Lets get out of here shall we?"

The building was taking fire. Kurumi led Yaeka by the hand as she rushed through the corridors, the sound of starship phasers was deafening. Luckily she had programmed the Macro to scan the source location and determine the best firing solution to assist in escaping or bombardment.

The walls shool and plaster fell from the ceiling along dust and bits of debris. Kurumi wasn't sure of the way out. However she could hear screams and shouting from all around her. Yaeka was struggling to keep up with her pace.

"Yaeka." She said as she quickly swung around. "I'm going to carry you ok." It would be faster even if it limited her ability to use the phaser rifle. She grabbed the young girl and held her close, sweeping her off her feet. She made sure that her head rested on ger shoulder as she progressed looking for a way out.

A door was slightly ajar up ahead. Kurumi pushed it open with her boot. It was a rather damp and badly lit room. Tables lined the walls and it seemed full of confiscated contraband and possessions. Everything from books, to clothes to children's toys. Then she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. She turned quickly and couldn't help but smile. The silver Starfleet Delta with two golden backing tiles. Her comm badge.

She swooped it up and pinned it back on her chest. At least now she had a way to contact the Myogi. She turned to leave the room, however a phaser blast struck the corridor outside. She was thrown back, Yaeka flew from her arms. Rubble and debris rained down on them both as dust from the concrete and dirt bellowed out.

Kurumi coughed as she sat up. "YAEKA!" she shouted out in desperation. She jumped up, intense burning from her legs made her wince. However the adrenaline was now running hot in her veins. "YAEKA!" she called out as she began to thrash around in the debris. She then heard a tiny cough making her turn on a dime. There she was, crawling out from under a table.

She rushed over and without another word grabbed her, picking her up once again. She didn't know where the next blast would come, so she hastily rushed out of the room. The corridors wall was gone, now exposing the outside world.

Kurumi took in a deep breath of that sweet fresh air. She smiled upon seeing people running away from the building. Some were dressed in uniform, but most were in rags or poor clothing. "Come on Yaeka. That's our ticket home." She held her tight as she chambered over the rubble, eventually making good speed and at a fast pace made contact with the dirt ground.

The fence was growing closer, she could see people attempting to climb it choosing to risk injury with the razor wire. She knew she had no chance of climbing it with Yaeka. "GET DOWN!" Kurumi shouted loudly to the escaping hordes.

She raised the phaser rifle, set it on maximum and aimed it one handed at the ground below the fence. Her first pulled back on the trigger. An almighty blast showered the area in dirt causing people to protect their heads. Once the dirt had stopped falling, a huge hole was where Kurumi had aimed. People began to run towards it, flooding through the hole in the fence and escaping back into the colony.

Kurumi joined them, clutching Yaeka close as she finally got through the hole. She stopped for a brief second to watch as Photon Torpedoes smashed into the building causing huge amounts of damage. She was glad she wasn't inside for that.

She found a secluded place and tapped her comm badge three times to activate the automatic distress beacon and beam up request. She cuddled Yaeka softly. "A few more minutes sweetie and we'll be safe."
