Timeline: After 'SanTakeshi vs Jane Sinclaus: The Great Gift Race (Part 3)'
Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:
The job was almost done. Every crew cabin had been visited save one. Presents had been left. Milk and cookies enjoyed. Jane’s transporter buffer held literally hundreds of carrots, and now only held only one present. For the last crewmember, appropriately (or perhaps ironically) enough the First Officer, Commander Misono.
Jane was surprised when she rounded the corner to see SanTakeshi in the process of unsealing the door. “Out of the way!” she squealed as she pushed her way, wrapped present in one hand and bulging stocking in the other, toward the opening door.
"No, you wait your turn!" SanTakeshi pushed back against his opponent. The first presents to go under Commander Misono's Christmas tree would be from SanTakeshi, not Jane SinClaus.
"It is my turn!" Jane said as she yanked hard on SanTakeshi's arm, pulling him back. She tried climbing up and over him to get to the tree.
"Oh, no you don't!" SanTakeshi said, tackling Jane to the floor.
With the noise being produced, it seemed neither SanTakeshi nor Jane SinClaus was concerned with the fact that the person they were trying to deliver to might wind up becoming a "coal in the stocking" situation...
And now, the continuation:
Which it very much did when the lights suddenly flicked on, revealing a (rather annoyed-looking) Commander Misono.
"What in the blazes is going on here?!" she demanded. "Lieutenant Sinclair, Mister Nakazato, do you two realize how much trouble you could get into for breaking into my quarters?!"
“Um, um, um,” Jane said, panicking at being caught. In a flash of instinct, she raised her hand toward Ichika and gave her a small wrapped gift. “Merry Christmas, Commander!” she cheered, her face in a grin that nervously hid her fear.
"Well, I suppose the jig's up..." SanTakeshi sighed as he got to his feet. "Merry Christmas..." He grumbled as he tossed his gift under Ichika's tree.
Ichika pinched the bridge of her nose. "You mean to tell me that you two conspired to break into my quarters- and Kahless knows whomever else's- just so you could play Santa?"
"Surely, Captain Takahashi has told you about your Christmas traditions by now?" SanTakeshi suggested. "I've never heard of a first officer who hasn't been briefed on traditions by their captain."
“Exactly,” Jane Sinclaus said nervously. “Didn’t you wonder where your Christmas presents came from, Commander?”
"I presumed there would be an in-person gift exchange tomorrow," Ichika sighed. "And Captain Takahashi didn't mention anything about civilians being contracted to break into our quarters to deliver gifts. Probably because that'd be a major security risk that I would more-than-likely raise to the Admiralty, but still..."
"Contracted?" SanTakeshi gasped. "Perhaps there was a mistake and you should've gone onto the naughty list, Commander. As it is, you will be for next year if this goes on much longer..."
“Don’t listen to him, Commander,” Jane Sinclaus intervened. “We know you’re one of the Nice ones.” She turned to SanTakeshi and whispered something into her magic communicator that picked up the tiniest sounds and went directly to her competitor. “Warm Milk Protocol?”
"Yes, Coal in the Stocking protocol." SanTakeshi also responded into his own magic communicator in a hushed voice.
It was almost unprecedented to need to employ both Warm Milk and Coal in the Stocking protocols. But needs must.
From out of Jane’s sleeve came a white aerosol into Ichika’s face containing a fast acting sleeping potion. She then dived out of the way. “Go, SanTakeshi!”
SanTakeshi also ducked out of the way, but as Commander Misono fell forward, he swept her up into his arms so she wouldn't hit the floor. The first officer's 110 pound mass didn't seem to matter to SanTakeshi as he carried her back into the sleeping area of the quarters as if he were moving something significantly lighter.
Laying Ichika back to bed and placing the sheets back over the Inuto, SanTakeshi placed an Inuto-safe candy cane on the nightstand for Commander Misono before making his way back towards the entrance of the quarters.
"I think we should just call the race a draw." SanTakeshi muttered to Jane Sinclaus as they both made for the exit.
“I think you’re right,” Jane Sinclaus replied. Once they were out of Commander Misono’s quarters, she let out a long breath. “You put up quite a race, SanTakeshi. And, it seems, you met my dirty trick with one of your own. I’m fine, by the way,” she added with a smirk.
"And that was with me making a detour." SanTakeshi pointed out. "Quite surprising how you managed to match my pace... You know, the Myogi could benefit from us working together instead of competing. Perhaps something to keep in mind for next year?"
“I’d like that,” said Jane. “And hey, maybe we can challenge some other Santas on other ships.” She got a mischievous grin on her face. “The Santas of the Haruna and Tokyo have had it too good for too long,”
"Oh yes, especially SanTaiga on the Tokyo." SanTakeshi said. "I'd love nothing more than to put that Claus in her place..."
SanTakeshi glanced at a wall chronometer as they walked.
"But, I digress..." He said. "We should probably make ourselves scarce before anyone else catches us... It is soon about to be Christmas day, after all..."
“Yes it is.” She offered her hand for a handshake. “Merry Christmas, SanTakeshi.”
After making sure there wasn't a zapping device on Jane's hand, SanTakeshi accepted the other Claus' hand.
"And a Merry Christmas to you, Jane Sinclaus." He said.
“Race you back to the North Pole!” Jane SinClaus said with a grin. “Last one there buys the Eggnog!”
"Oh, it's on!" SanTakeshi said.
The words had hardly left SanTakeshi's mouth when he utilized his own magical transporter to return him to his R32 up on the shiptop.
Jane Sinclaus’s own magic brought her to the shuttlebay. Her shuttle left the Myogi as fast as she arrived.
As the R32 and the racing shuttle drove out of sight, the two Santa figures could be heard exclaiming:
"Merry Christmas to all..." SanTakeshi began
Jane Sinclaus concluded: “…And to all a good night.”
