Mission: Indivisible
Timeline: After 'While the Iron's Hot (Part 1)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"Ahem..." S'Mira cleared her throat and giving Ichika an irritated look. "If you're done talking about the follies of traitors, let's not forget the situation at hand, shall we?"

Ichika shot S'Mira the stink-eye, as if to silently berate the Caitian for her cultural inconsideration. Any remarks on that front, however, were wisely kept to herself, as now was not the time to be picking fights; they had a job at hand, and everyone needed to do there part if this was to go smoothly.

"Yes... I believe that would be a wise idea," she replied, before turning her attention back to Tsuneo. "Best take your seat, Commander; the briefing's about to begin shortly."

"Well, I suppose we'll have to catch up some other time..." Tsuneo said, moving to rejoin Barkhorn.

And now, the continuation:

Ami walked into the briefing room with PADDs in hand and scowled at them as she picked a seat near her own Captain, "Captain Takahashi, Myogi is ready in all respects. Only minor damage was taken and that's been made good. I've got some ideas for our weapons modulation when we go kick more Elachi ass, I should have been there instead of on the ground."

"As I should have been aboard instead of being trapped over here." Maho sighed. "All things considered, though, she came out of it okay. I am interested to hear your proposal on the weapons modulation afterwards, though:"

Perhaps that was for the best, Kael thought to himself as he took his own seat while humming an old earth poem. Nine dead, sixty seven wounded. Twenty of those still recovering and four in critical condition. The report on the casualties he had to give earlier still weighted heavily on his mind. It was surreal to see the ship boarded on multiple decks.

For her part, Jane’s hand was doing much better thanks to the treatment provided by their new CMO, to whom she gave a smile and nod before finding a seat near Ami. “Ready for anything, Captain,” she said, aiming to keep spirits and morale up as best as possible.

Kurumi followed suit into the room. She slipped into a seat near the Myogi's staff.

At the front of the room Captain Misaka stepped upto the podium. "If you could all take your seats." She said her voice cutting through the chatter.

As the assembled officers took their seats, the projector came to life, displaying live feeds from the ready rooms of the Akagi and the Alita, displaying the faces of Captains Hartmann and Shokuho.

"Apologies we couldn't be there in person." Hartmann said. "Subspace trajectory calculations are complex and take time, and they're best not left to the hands of the lower deckers."

Not even two minutes in and a captain has already insulted his own crew, if front of strangers no less. Kael rubbed his eyes in quiet disappointment.

"Anyways, let's go over what we know:" Hartmann declared when no clear lead was taken. "Takahashi?"

Maho rose from her seat and stepped forward:

"As we know; at roughly 1930 hours local time, a strike force of roughly twenty four Elachi ships appeared in the Rheuys system. The Rheuysian Self Defense Force engaged eighteen of these ships, leaving six for the Starships Myogi, Ermiana, and Kaga to engage: The Rheuysian reports are still coming in, but we know for a fact that all three Starfleet ships were breached, and personnel from these ships were taken, mostly from non-essential areas. While we were preoccupied in orbit, Elachi strike teams successfully made their way to the surface, and among their captives was President Sinisiub Pallis: With the capture of the President of the Federation, we are now under a protocol 150 galactic emergency."

The slide changed to display the directive Maho had mentioned:

"Under this directive, Starfleet is to immediately discontinue all non essential work and prepare for an attack." Maho explained. "As of this moment, every ship in the fleet is at red alert, and will remain that way until the president, J.P Ameda, who is presently being sworn in, declares an end to the emergency."

Kael didn't like this. This was all too vague. ''What does this directive define as ''essential work'' exactly? Starfleet's activities are much more broad than a simple armed force you would find in any space faring civilization."

"As of right now, all recreational, drydock, recruitment, and distribution operations are suspended indefinitely aboard all Starfleet vessels, stations, and planetary outposts, " Ichika proceeded to elaborate. "Additionally, all further shore-leave is canceled and all active Starfleet personnel are instructed to return to their postings immediately. For their safety, civilians are strongly advised to remain in their quarters until the protocol is lifted, though Starfleet personnel will see to it that their personal needs are attended to."

Ami's jaw tried to drop and her face went a lighter shade of normal as the word came out, but then she set her face in more of a stoic gesture. "Oh my gods... I've been in this situation a long time ago, back when I was Crysta.. I'll make sure my people are ready for it, ma'ams, Engineering will be able to respond to anything that comes up."

"following a cross-examination of the Ermiana's internal chronometer, we have determined that the span of time from when the Elachi strike force was first reported to the subsequent intervention of both the Akagi and Alita was approximately 30 minutes," Ichika continued. "At the time, the Akagi was investigating a transmission that was confirmed to have been forwarded by known fugitive Tanaka Miyhara to the Myogi, and subsequently identified a small Elachi fleet departing from a sparsely inhabited star system in Sector 811, listed in Vulcan star charts as "Braxus." It was from here that the Akagi would subsequently track the fleet's movements to Rheuys, where the attack was carried out."

She turned her attention to the screen. "Captain Hartmann, if you'd care to elaborate?"

"Well, Commander; allow me to provide you with a few corrections, there:" Hartmann responded. "Braxus might be listed as sparsely populated, but that's hardly the reality: That system is the most heavily fortified position in the Entire Confederacy of Independent Planets. Intelligence suggests that the Confederacy recognizes Braxus as its capital. Which, given the fact that it's crawling with both Tal Shiar and Elachi, I'm inclined to believe."

Suggests? I'm inclined to believe? Kael's opinion of Hartmann was dropping at an alarming rate, lack of military bearing was one thing. Dragging a fleet to war after admitting they don't even know where the enemy's capital is even worse. Too many assumptions and too much pressure to rush into action. But his station did not permit him objections of that nature.

“Any indication of enemy force strength?” asked Jane, her hand raised. “Tal Shiar ships usually have cloaking devices, and maybe that tech’s been shared with Elachi or Separatist ships, right? Do we have any idea how many enemy ships we might be facing?”

"Long range sensors detected at least twenty six Elachi vessels." Erica explained. "Tachyon scans detected at least fourteen Romulan vessels of varying classes. Of course, it's always safer to estimate that number to be higher."

"Any idea as to what kinds of ships they're packing?" a Tactical officer inquired.

"I'll speak for that."

To be continued...
