Mission: The Fast & The Fleet
Location: Holodeck One
Timeline: After 'NightKids, Assemble! (Part 1)'

Previously, on Star Trek Myogi:

Bree had no idea what to wear to this meeting, so she settled on a simple navy pantsuit that wasn't too fancy and would allow for comfort. Most of her civilian wardrobe fit that description, as even before joining Starfleet, she was taught to be of service, her clothing should be presentable, but functional, and shouldn't attract undue attention.

Looking around, she admired everyone's self-expression and just hoped she wouldn't let the team down with her inexperience.

Kurumi didn't know what all the fuss was about, but she had decided to go to this 'street race'. It must have been her curiosity, or the ract it might become a security risk that made her attend.

And now, the continuation:

As the FD and the R32 pulled back into the car park at the end of a joint practice run, Maho glanced down at the radio chronometer on the R32's dash. Despite the program being frozen in place at a set time, the chronometers in the cars read the real time, and the time was now 0830 hours, and it was time to get this show on the road. As Maho shut off the engine and lights and got out of the R32, she found herself facing the curious gathered Starfleet officers whom would form the Myogi NightKids. Maybe not exactly like Zack's NightKids, but they would have to do.

"Alright, first day of practice, and it's a lovely day, amiright?" Maho said before she realized something important. "Oh, hold on; you guys probably can't see me. Let's fix that, shall we? Computer, advance time to 0800 hours."

Within seconds of the command being issued, everyone found themselves standing in a crisp Japanese morning on Mount Akagi, with the morning sun shining down on them.

"Now, that's more like it." Maho smirked. "Now, first let me introduce you to our instructors who have graciously volunteered their time to show us how to street race; they're none other than Project D's double aces themselves; Keisuke Takahashi and Takumi Fujiwara!"

"Very nice!" Tristana commented.

"Now, Lieutenant Fujiwara unfortunately won't be racing with us, as he is not senior staff, but he has agreed to be our downhill instructor, as there is no better downhill racer alive than him." Maho explained. "Now, every one of you here today has seen at least one street race with me here on the holodeck, some of you as late as last night. Now, it looks easy; you have a ground car, your opponent has a ground car; you drive your ground car faster than the opponent can drive theirs, and you win."

Maho raised a finger.

"Except it's not that easy:" She clarified. "It's a difficult sport: It was a difficult sport foe professional drivers who spent their lifetimes practicing! And now, we have just under two weeks to build a team, and to face the opponent. Now, I know what some of you are thinking: How are we going to beat the Speed Stars? They're all Andorians, and have been at this longer than any one of us! Except for our double aces, and our surprisingly-talented squadron leader."

Maho gestured towards Lieutenant Kujo when she mentioned the squadron leader.

"But, there is more to street racing than simply winning;" Maho continued. "It's... About courage; courage to strap yourself to a 3 to 5 ton missile and wrestle it down a mountain road. And it's also... About camaraderie... And it's also... About heart, and if there's one thing our Andorian friends lack, it's heart:"

A smug smile spread on Maho's face.

"I think we can beat them:" She said. "I know we can beat them! We are going to beat them, am I right?"

"The more I'm reading into this strange Human sport, the less I seem to understand," Ichika whispered to Karen.

Karen smirked. "Best not overthink it; she's grandstanding a little bit in order to hype everyone up."

“A key part of most human sports,” Jane added in a hushed voice from just behind Ichika and Karen. Now, in her experience, Andorians never lacked heart — if anything, they suffered from far too much of it — but the point remained the same. This Andorian Captain seemed to be a bully and couldn’t be permitted to win. They would win, by skill AND strength of character, and they’d look great doing it.

“Yeah!” she called out to the Captain. “Whether by an inch or a mile, we’ll get them, ma’am!”

Bree took a breath and a moment to soak in the crisp air before offering, "I don't have a clue how to do this, and it's been a long time since I've allowed my personal competitive nature to come to the fore...that said, as much as I love my work, I didn't join Starfleet just to talk to you, lot, and sit on my as--pirations," she finished with a grin.

"What's that?" Maho asked. "I can't hear you!"

“Fuck yeah!” Jane cheered, louder than expected and perhaps cruder than called for, but at this point she was caught up in it. Racing! Maybe not the kind she was used to but it was still a fast vehicle against another. A contest of skill and engineering at breakneck speed. Her teeth were practically bared as she was eager beyond words to completely humiliate the Andorians. “Let’s leave them in our fucking dust!!!”

Alisha snorted with a laugh as her girlfriend made her point. She was sitting on her bike now, sidesaddle was it were, but just to have somewhere to sit, not to ride like this. It had been… a decade since she’d last done her stunts in person, otherwise it had been more leisurely rides. Still, old memories were already coming to the fore as she remembered the good rides and the bad.

"Are we going to beat the Andorians or not? I can't hear you!" Maho said.

"YES!" The gathered officers exclaimed as loudly as they could.

"Alright, then let's do some street racing!" Maho said. "Now, I want everyone to split up into two groups: Uphillers group with Keisuke, downhillers with Takumi."

After it had been decided who was running the uphill and who the downhill, Keisuke and Takumi got right to work first by demonstrating how to operate the antique cars:

"So, there are three pedals: The gas, the brake, and the clutch..."

"This is the steering wheel. You'll need to hold this at all times to remain in control of the car..."

"When you want to change gears, you put the clutch all the way in, and move the gearshift to the next or previous gear in numerical sequence..."

Following a static demonstration, Keisuke and Takumi had taken each racer on a demonstration run. The demonstrations started out in basic car control until halfway down or up the course, at which point Keisuke and Takumi picked up the speed and began demonstrating racing techniques.

Following the demonstration runs, everyone was turned loose to try it for themselves. As the sound of cars starting up and heading out onto the course filled the simulated air, Keisuke made his way up to Maho, evidently exhausted from having had to do multiple demonstration runs, as he could only take one passenger in the FD.

"This is going to be two long, hard weeks." Keisuke sighed to his wife.

"Babe, I don't care how long or hard these two weeks are:" Maho responded. "I'm not going to lose to Shimakaze in a street race..."
