Mission:
Insurrection
Location: Sol System
[Sol System]
The Starship Myogi dropped out of warp at the edge of the Sol System alongside countless other ships dropping out of warp bound for Earth. The New Orleans class starship turned in close maneuvering alongside its fleet mates as they approached Saturn en route to the blue and green paradise under siege.
[USS Myogi Bridge]
"Just received our flight plan from Orbital Control:" Takumi reported from the helm station. "Once we arrive at Earth and beam everyone who's going down to the surface, we're to stand down and make for Spacedock."
"Then make it so, Ensign. Contact Spacedock security and alert them that we have a detainee that will need to be transferred out of our brig." Maho said from the command chair before tapping her combadge. "Security and all volunteers please report to a transporter room for beam out. This is not a drill, I repeat; this is not a drill."
"I suppose I ought to head down and see how the away team's coming along," Ichika sighed, standing up from her chair and beginning to make her way towards the turbolift. "I take it you've already informed Commodore Honda about our plans to beam down?"
"The Commodore is aware of our orders." Maho replied. "Though I have informed her that she will be running the ship and everyone left behind on it alone, as none of the regular command staff will be present to assist her."
"Right, then" Ichika nodded, her arm reaching up to summon the turbolift, but suddenly stopping mid-motion as if she had been struck by a sudden epiphany.
"Captain?"
"Yes, Commander?" Maho asked, turning around.
"If, for whatever reason, I don't make it out of this ordeal alive," Ichika began, "I would just like to say that it has been my privilege these past few months to serve beside you and call you my Commanding Officer; I don't think I'd still be here if you hadn't stood up for me all those years ago."
Maho appeared to have a realization, as her mind was brought back to the last time she saw Takeshi in the shuttlebay before he left for the USS Tokyo:
"Before I go, Maporin; i just wanted you to know that you're a dynamite gal with a bright future ahead of you; and it's been my privilege these past five years to serve beside you and call you my friend. I do hope you and K.T. are happy together; you two make a cute couple."
Reflexively, Maho found herself responding to Commander Misono in a similar manner she did to Takeshi that fateful day:
"The honor's been mine, Commander." She said, giving Ichika a weak smile. "Carry on as you were..."
Ichika appeared to sense that something was up, but seeing as time was of the essence here, she must've decided to leave the matter at that.
[USS Myogi Main Engineering]
Lieutenant Brandon Pratt locked down the Main Engineering protocols for the Myogi. The systems were set to Starbase self-guidance mode. At this point, a chimpanzee could theoretically assume control of Engineering. Since this was the case, there was no way he felt being left out of the landing party. A chance to do good, to correct the wrongs that he had seen on the viewscreens along with the rest of the crew.
The Myogi was to stand down, and all engineering systems were timed in a stand-down mode. "Ensign Reveres, you have the systems of Engineering. Till we all get back and have this mess sorted." Pratt grimaced and paused. He looked at the warp core that was now slowly pulsing in unison, marking the end of their trip back to Earth. "I want to do something good to help the situation, I just hope we can."
[USS Myogi Deck 6]
Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger had just finished checking the overloaded and stuffed medical backpack he would need once planet side. He looked at Lieutenant Commander Victor Delling MD and smiled "Once more unto the breach." he said, then turned to make his way to a transporter room. He was unsure whether the doctor would be beaming down, but he had a duty to tend to both the crewmembers of the USS Myogi, but to all the beings that were going to get caught up in this chaos. He was checking his red cross brassard (armband) when Crewman 2nd Class Petra Silika slammed into him. "Whoa slow down there crewman." he said as he grabbed her to steady her from falling. He quickly glanced at her "Crewman Silika, right? You were on the Nikko takeover with us, right?" she nodded and replied "Yes, chief. I am volunteering to go down and help with the riots." William nodded, "Okay then, you're my six. Stay next to me and help protect me and any patients, whether friendly or not from hostile action. If anyone tells you differently tell them to talk to me, understood?" She again nodded "Yes, chief." William could see the fear in her face, "Good, you did well on the Nikko, and I have faith in you. Now let's go." With that the two moved out to the transporter room.
Once more into the breach indeed Victor shook his head and headed to the cargo bay which he was going to set up for triage. He met Wyndon on the way and nodded to him. His friend had volunteered the moment he'd heard what was occuring for he had an intrinsic hatred for this sort of behavior. Wyndon passed him, and stepped into the transporter room to join the rest of those about to beam down into the unknown.
One group preparing in the armoury was a bit of an odd sight. The tall and spindly Jane Sinclair was the only one in a red uniform donning the gear of a security officer, inspecting her assigned rifle. Next to her were the two junior security officers assigned to the same unit as her; the long-haired Kiyohira Kabuto was only just shorter than Jane, while shorter-haired Shingen Miyazawa was shorter still. Both were checking over their own gear and helping Jane with her own. Last was Mai Ichihara, who barely came up to Jane’s nose, her single eyepiece helping her to see inside the medkit she was looking over (having brought it from sickbay to show her unit mates). Like Pitsenbarger she wore blue and a Red Cross armband, though none of the four knew whether it would be respected. This might be a war for the survival of the Federation but these weren’t traditional soldiers they were fighting, and their leaders had little respect for the rules. Still, they could hope.
Jane saw Tristana and flagged her down. “We’re ready, ma’am.” She and the security chief never got along famously, but she was disciplined, and this was important, so she showed that she was ready to listen and follow Tristana’s orders. “With your permission, we’ll beam down.”
Tristana was clad in full riot gear, and though it covered her chest region, underneath, she had buttoned up her uniform tunic once again.
"Has everyone assembled yet?" Tristana asked.
"I think so," Jane answered. "I've counted fifteen units, about half of which have gone to the Transporter Rooms already."
"Some of the medical support teams might not be stopping here first, Lieutenant," added Mai. "So there might be more going from sickbay directly to the Transporter Room." She took a moment to check her Type 1 sidearm. She hoped not to use it, but she had the right to defend herself.
"Well, we'd best not waste time." Tristana admitted. "Captain Takahashi gave me something to read to the crew, and I'd rather do it with everyone assembled rather than after some have gone down."
“None will have beamed down yet,” Jane noted. “We can summon those few that have gone to the Transporter Room back, or I can put you on shipwide comms?”
Tristana perked a curious brow at the Junior Lieutenant's offer.
"I thought managing shipwide comms was Ops' job?" She said.
"I have many talents," Jane quipped. "In all seriousness though, ma'am, I can either put you on for everyone or we can quickly bring people back here for a minute. It'll be tight though, so the comms might be easier. Your call."
"Very well, alert someone in Ops and tell them to put me on shipwide Comms." Tristana said.
“Right away,” Jane said, turning back toward her unit and tapping her commbadge to speak with Ops.
Queed entered the transporter room looking for Captain Takahashi assuming he would be going with her to the press conference. Not seeing her there, he took up a position just inside and to the left of the door to wait.
Entering the transporter room, Tristana noticed Queed standing near the entryway.
"Changed your mind and coming with us, Commander?" She asked.
“I’m going with the captain to the press conference,” Queed replied, “I thought I was to meet her here.”
"Well, Commander, Captain Takahashi is still on the bridge." Tristana responded. "You'd best be heading back there if you're going to accompany her to the press conference."
Queed’s eyes closed and his mouth became a thin, flat line. “Well, now I feel silly.” When his expression went back to normal he added, “Thank you,” he told Tristana, “It’s been awhile since I’ve served on a ship.
"And that, you see, is why pilots are better to hang out with than other security officers!" Mia stated as the door slid open in front of her, her around around Kozakura's shoulder. The look on the small woman's face basically begged for rescue from the flight-suited pilot.
Queed let out a small chuckle, "I'll surely keep that in mind in the future." He left the transporter room and made his way to the bridge.
"I get it, I get it, I need to report into the Lieutenant, ma'am, could you please... let.. me... Go!" Kiki finally was able to escape the purple-haired pilot.
Mia glanced around and spotted Jane, without an accompanying second body and furrowed her brow, but sidled over to her, resting her hands on her gun belt as she did so, "Heya Chica, where's your best buddy?" She was obviously referring to Alisha.
Jane giggled at the cute reference to Alisha. “Planetside already, trying to learn a bit more for us from the inside. If you recognize her, don’t shoot her, yeah? Or make it stun only.”
"Right, don't shoot the one with the pretty face, I think I can do that!" Mia remarked with a laugh.
“I’m gonna hold you to that,” Jane said before falling in line with her squad.
Brandon grunted as he stood with his tactical gear. Pratt had suited up himself for the situation they would be beaming down. Turning to the Captain he then checked his wrist chronometer, it was down to the minute now
"Ensign Talmage reporting for duty" Connor said as he prepared to beam down with the others.
"ATTENTION!" Ichika announced as she strode into the transporter room, having already donned full riot gear in anticipation of the resistance they would be facing down on the surface. "At present, some two million belligerents with no regard for safety are running amok on Starfleet premises; Riot Control has been set up within the main security building, where we will be beaming in to rendezvous with riot control officials. From the moment we beam in, you'll have approximately 15 minutes to make your way over to the armory and suit up, before you'll be expected to report back to the rotunda to receive your orders. The moment we set foot outside of that building, I want all phaser rifles on heavy stun; we're already receiving reports of fatalities on the surface, so these people will kill to meet their ends. Do I make myself crystal clear as to what will be expected of you down there?"
"MA'AM, YES, MA'AM!" the officers on the transporter pad answered in the affirmative.
"That's what I like to hear," Ichika smiled as she moved to take her place on the transporter pad.
Pitsenbarger winced at hearing the announcement, “Bloody rioters, just great.” He looked at Crewman Silika and said “Remember what I told you, you are tasked in protecting myself, the medical team, and the wounded, brought to the casualty collection point. If this is anything like a typical riot it is going to be bloody and violent.” Silika turned pale and nodded “Aye, aye Chief. William smiled and replied, “I have the utmost faith you will carry out your duties.” with that William seen Crewman Silika straighten up a little taller.
Tristana made her way to the front of the gathered officers and tapped her combadge. Ops had patched her in on shipwide coms so that she could address everyone.
"Attention all volunteers, this is Tristana:" She said. "Before we beam down, Captain Takahashi gave me something to read to you:" Tristana looked down at the PADD and the message it contained. "Volunteers: Today will go down in Federation history as one of our Federation's darkest days. Your actions today will be remembered by future generations, and Starfleet will remember your sacrifices. Though I will not be with you on the ground, I will be with you in spirit. We all have jobs to do today, and mine is to call upon the man who started this to demand an end to it. As your Commanding Officer, I am proud of how we have come together as a crew, and I promise you that if Starfleet does not recognize your service today, I will, whatever form that might take. Godspeed, Volunteers."
Having read Maho's speech to the crew, Tristana moved to take her place on the transporter pad.
"Stand by to beam down," Ichika announced, giving the Bajoran transporter operator one final nod of approval.
"Energize," the Bajoran replied, inputting the commands into her terminal. "May the Prophets be with you, Zura."
