Mission: Christmas Vacation
Location: Conference Room, Deck 1
Timeline: After 'Pre-Layup Feast! (Part 2)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"In years past, the Captain would lead us in saying grace, and it would usually go something like this:" Maho closed her eyes. "Lord, we thank you for the feast which we are about to receive, as well as for blessing us with the best ship and crew in the quadrant and a magnificent season of catching bad guys. May 2397 be as fruitful as 2396 has been. Amen."

Jane gave a respectful nod at the conclusion of the grace. Giving thanks and asking for blessings were good traditions worthy of being continued -- and expanded, as Maho was doing. "Thank you for including us, Captain," she said with a smile.

"Amen." Alisha had responded in kind, "We really do appreciate it." She stated to Maho, "I'm just glad I was able to get the time off for this."

Ami yawned widely again, "And for the food! Just thinking about all of this is making me tired, but can't go into a food coma until after the food, right?"

"It's my pleasure." Maho responded to Jane. "Please, dig in! Before it gets cold!"

And now, the conclusion:

After everyone had gotten their first helpings, Maho decided to strike up a conversation:

"So, anyone have any fun plans for the holidays?" She asked.

"Playing with the impulse engines a bit." Ami looked over at where the desserts were and considered if she'd be able to sneak over to them early, despite how good the dinner actually was, "Maybe see about sneaking a trip home for a day or so, warm up the engines a bit and have a bit of fun on the shooting range."

“I won’t be able to make it home,” Jane said sadly. “Not enough time to get to Proxima and back. But Alisha and I have a day of planetside plans tomorrow.” It wasn’t all the way the same as being in her own house, but Jane knew that home was quickly becoming where Alisha was, and right now that was here. She also turned to look at Ami. “After tomorrow though, can I swing by the range? Surely you need your gunner.”

"Oh, I suppose." Ami grinned, glancing up and down Alisha as if gauging how well she'd fit, "Of course, Alisha, you're very welcome to come along. Would you prefer to be an observer, or would you like you come along for the ride of your life?"

Alisha chuckled low, "We'll have to see about the ride, but by all means, I'd love to come and see what's captivated Jane so recently!"

Ami smiled brightly, then glanced over at Maho, "Not being cryptic, sorry." She shrugged slightly, "One of my hobbies is competitive tankery. I helped develop a league that's going through one of their first tournaments right about now. I've been driving tanks ever since I was a girl of ten, I'm a helluva driver if I say so myself."

"I get that feeling all too well." Keisuke responded. "After Project D disbanded, my brother was still interested in pursuing his fastest driver theory. One thing led to another, which led to the creation of the MFG; one of the premier historic ground car racing series in the Federation. Every now and then, they'll ask me to bust out the FD for a showcase event."

"I've got a '67 Nova that is anything but stock that I've used for a bit of racing here and there. Once you can pull some of those moves in a light tank, driving a car is easy peasy." Ami gave a bit of a wave, "Makes me wish I'd been here for those races you guys had with Haruna's crew! That would have been AWESOME!"

"You may have made a difference in how they went." Maho commented.

"67, huh?" Keisuke said. "Were you by any chance the lone Nova of Osaka?"

Ami batted her eyelashes at him, “Certainly weren’t any others that I was aware of in the area. Especially gunmetal grey with shooting stars painted on them.” She grinned widely, “I do think I’ve heard that name in regards to me before.”

"Well, let's just say you were briefly on Project D's radar back in the day." Keisuke explained. "If Project D had more time to explore different regions of the country, we might have shown up to challenge you."

“You mean, you would have shown up to lose.” Ami’s voice remained cool and collected, but the look on her face had a cocky smile on it, but that was to be expected, “At least the first round. Home turf advantage does have its benefits after all, more runs might have evened the field a bit, until I got out my Chaffee and live ammo.” She shrugged with a slight laugh, “I wasn’t bad at driving, pretty darned good, but I could be beaten, no doubt about that.”

"But still, it takes talent to have landed on our radar." Keisuke explained. "We always wanted to make sure we were racing the best wherever we went. And if I could have a second helping of that stuffing?"

After the stuffing was passed to him and he prepared himself another helping, Keisuke continued speaking:

"Speaking of going places; I finally convinced Maporin to spend Christmas in Gunma instead of trying to visit both sets of parents over the holiday."

"I've already told my mom that if she wants to see me this year, she'll have to come to Gunma." Maho explained. "There's still a chance that she'll turn up, since we're on better terms than she is with Miho, but if she does, I'm sure your folks will set a place for her at the table."

"My foster father lives on Earth now with his wife, and I was planning on going to see him. She's human, so she celebrates the holidays with a fervor." Victor smiled a bit, at the remembered antics of his now foster mother. They hadn't been married at the time that he'd been in the vulcans care.

Dinner had been consumed, Dessert had been snacked on, everyone's stomachs were bulging, and the leftovers had been packed up. Maho had encouraged everyone that if they wanted leftovers to take as much as they could carry, because once the remaining leftovers were in refrigeration, they were fair game for the skeleton crew and visiting shoreside personnel, and there was no guarantee that any would be left when they returned after the holidays.

While Maho had been disappointed that her Exec hadn't shown up to the feast, she had taken the time to package up some Inuto-safe leftovers to bring to Commander Misono before she disembarked.

Ami had packed up plenty of stuffing because it was her favorite part of a big meal, along with extra desserts to go along with it, because there had been only so much that had been able to fit in her stomach before it had obtained that uncomfortable feeling. She bowed to Maho with some small regret, "Thank you, Captain, for hosting this party, it was wonderful and I hope we do it again next year!"

"You're welcome, and have a Merry Christmas, Lieutenant." Maho said with a bow.

Ami then turned to Jane and Alisha, "And I'll see you two down in Osaka! Don't be too late, because I know this sushi restaurant that is to DIE for, too!"

"We'll be delighted to go." Alisha chuckled at the smaller woman, squeezing Jane's arm to her, "And I'm looking forward to the tanks as well."

“Me too!” Jane pulled Ami into a hug. “See you then, Imouto.” Once she stepped back, she bowed to the Captain and her husband. “Domo arigatou gozaimasu, Senchō, Shiki-kan.” (Thank you very much, Captain, Commander.)

"No, thank you:" Keisuke responded with a bow. "And have a Merry Christmas, Lieutenant."

“Shall we, luv?” Jane asked Alisha, taking her arm.

"Let us." Alisha responded, hooking her arm into the 'being escorted' position Jane's arm and grinned at the Captain, "Thank you, Captain, it was a wonderful evening."

"Glad you enjoyed it:" Maho said with a smile. "Have a Merry Christmas, you two!"

When the last of the guests had departed, Commander Churchill and a contingent of Diplomatic officers arrived to clean up the mess.

"Commander, you missed all the fun." Maho teased.

"On the contrary, Captain; the real fun is only just beginning." Elisabeth responded with a smirk. "Someone has to make sure the ship's silver shines like new again and the conference room is spotless for when you all come back aboard in the new year."

Chuckling, Maho turned to her husband.

"Well, babe, since the cleaning crew's here, why don't we try and catch Commander Misono before she disembarks?" Maho asked. "I very much want to hear when we come back aboard next year how delicious these Inuto-safe leftovers were." She said as she and Keisuke made their way to the exit.
