Timeline: After 'The Second Wedding of Maho and Keisuke Takahashi (Part 2)
Previously, on Star Trek Myogi:
Damn, Jane thought as her eyes lingered on Alisha. “No, luv, you look amazing.” She gave Alisha a peck on the cheek and stood beside her, wrapping one arm around her waist. “Not sure if you’ve met. Karen, Elisabeth, this is Alisha. Chief of Intel and Chief of my heart.”
At once recognizing the Chief of Intel, Karen's jaw dropped in disbelief.
"You... You're dating Alexis Silverstar?!" she gasped.
And now, the continuation:
The crowd immediately surrounding them fell quiet as they got a better look at the new arrival.
"No way..."
"...Alexis Silverstar..."
"...at the Captain's wedding?"
"...amazing..."
"...how did they..."
"Shit." The word was soft and barely audible as Alisha's smile froze in the smile position as she was pointed out as exactly who she was and she stiffened. Almost nine years. Nine years of denying who she'd been in the past, only a handful of people had seen through her denials and efforts. Only one had required... A bribe of sorts. She mentally sighed, a few seconds passing with the murmurs before she unfroze her expression. Something to deal with later, if she could. But she was an actress, a professional, "I really need to rethink things." She said quietly, a voice intended only for herself, Jane and their two new companions, despite all of the eyes on her and her alone. She reached out with her left hand, the free one as her right had affixed itself to Jane, "A pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure's all mine!" Karen insisted once she had regained her composure. "It's truly an honor to have you in our company, Miss Silverstar; truly, it is! I watched a lot of your movies growing up, especially the Bond ones!"
"One." Alisha corrected, "I was just in one of the Bond movies, hell, I only had three years to do movies before..." She shook her head slightly again, "Sure, I was prolific during those years, but I'm glad that you enjoyed them, Karen, I'm always glad to know that I've touched the lives of people in a positive way."
"Wait, did I hear Jane correctly?" Karen remarked, turning her gaze over to Jane. "Did you say she was the Chief of Intel?"
"Yes..." Jane said, wincing. She had not expected this to happen.
"No way!" Karen gasped with childlike glee. "The Alexis Silverstar is our Chief of Intel! That's so cool!"
The holograms began whispering amongst themselves again.
Alisha VERY reluctantly released herself from Jane and crossed the very, very short distance between herself and the pilot, "Karen, please, I'm trying to not steal a spotlight, especially from the reason for this day." She kept her voice low, disguising the intent of the conversation with a brief hug such as one between two women meeting for the first time, then lowered her voice to a whisper for Karen alone, "I need you to stop this. I'm Alisha, Reno if you'd rather use that. I'm trying to keep my past from following me around." She ended the hug and retreated back to Jane.
Jane knew what had just transpired and gave Alisha's hand a gentle squeeze of support.
"Oh, but of course!" Karen replied, bowing her head in apology. "I had no idea, I swear!"
Pratt had seen the display before his and Victoria’s eyes play out. He had excused himself before Alisha had uncovered the Silverstar identity. He knew full well, probably long before anyone in this room. He cheekily grinned hearing the amused, surprised conversations amongst the crew and holograms.
Walking with Victoria, Pratt had ‘dropped’ her off at the circle of femininity, at the same time handing her the drink she had requested.
“Hi, Alisha.” Brandon had smiled and nodded “Jane. Ladies.” He didn’t know some of them. Deciding he had best find a corner of males, he looked around the room of holograms, spotting fellow engineer Lt. JG Johnston. “Thank god.” He mouthed, before spotting Commander Keisuke.
Deciding now would be a good time, he excused himself to offer his congratulations to the Commander. He didn't see the hologram of Maho Takahashi nearby. “Commander. Keisuke. It is a wonderful venue for your vows to be renewed. Today is a special day for you both. I thank you for your invitation kindly.” Brandon lent his best, kindest respect and offerings. He was no poet, that was for certain.
"The well wishes are appreciated, Lieutenant:" Keisuke responded. "I have no doubt things will run more smoothly than the last time we attempted this."
One of the final groups of people to arrive was a small gathering of greenhorns; Ensigns Fujiwara, Talmage, and Kurosawa. Takumi was attempting to maintain a conversation with the other two:
"A superhero holonovel, huh?" Takumi asked as the three arrived on the holodeck. "Sounds like fun: I'd join, but who ever heard of a crippled superhero?"
From the nearby farmhouse, Maho watched the crew gathering as she was finishing her own preparations.
This time, things will be perfect: She thought. And there won't be a thing she and her cronies will be able to do about it...
Maho turned from the window and opened the door to the room she had been preparing in a crack.
"Tell the guests to begin seating themselves, and inform the wedding party." She ordered.
With the guests seated, it was time to begin: Starting with Keisuke, the holographic representations of the bridesmaids and groomsmen began walking down the aisle in pairs, concluding with the holograms of Takeshi Nakazato, the best man, and Erika Itsumi, the maid of honor. With the last of the wedding party in their places at the altar, the music swelled as a cue to all guests to stand up for the bride, Maho, to walk down the aisle.
It didn't matter to Keisuke that this was the second time, Maho still looked stunning coming down the aisle towards him with the hologram of her father. When the two reached the altar, Keisuke shook hands with the holographic Tsuneo, who leaned in close and said "No returns." before assuming his seat and Maho took Keisuke's hands at the altar.
When the music concluded, a holographic representation of Tanaka Miyahara stepped up to the altar, wearing a variant of the admirals' dress uniform that gave him an almost priestly air, exactly as he had worn that day, including the high-powered phaser rifle slung over his back.
"Computer; remove the phaser rifle from the officiant:" Keisuke quickly spoke up, and the rifle vanished from the hologram.
"Since the days of the first wooden sailing ships, all captains have enjoyed the happy privilege of joining together two people in the bonds of matrimony." Miyahara spoke. "And so, it is my honor to unite you, Maho Nishizumi, and you, Keisuke Takahashi, together in matrimony. I understand you two have written your own vows?"
"We have; thank you, Admiral:" Keisuke said, turning to Maho. "Maho; ever since I was young; I've struggled with the inability to split my attention: Previous relationships have crashed and burned for me because of it. But you've shown me that it is possible to split my attention: To be a dedicated romantic partner while striving to be the best Starfleet officer I can possibly be: So, my vow to you is this; as our little family grows, I will continue to strive to not only be the best Starfleet Officer that I can be, but also to be the best husband, and best father that I can be."
"Very well put; Commander:" Miyahara complemented. "And you, Nishizumi?"
"Keisuke;" Maho said. "From a young age, I was brought up on one principle: Victory at any cost. As such, I had never even stopped to consider love to be a possibility. But you've shown me that it is possible; and reaching the altar on one's wedding day is one of the sweetest victories in life. My pledge today is not just to you, but to all the crewmembers of the Myogi who took time out of their busy days to attend, that not only will you and I take the steps towards parenthood together, but we as a crew together shall turn the page in the Myogi's history. We shall end this chapter of defeat and sadness, and together begin a new chapter; one of glory and triumph. We can't change what happened, but we can look to the future: Captain Taiga Aisaka of the USS Tokyo might have succeeded in almost extinguishing our light, but together, we will ensure that the Myogi will burn brightly among the stars once more."
"A dazzling display of devotion and patriotism, Nishizumi:" Miyahara said. "Well; with the power vested in me by Starfleet Command and the United Federation of Planets; I hereby pronounce you husband and wife: You may kiss the bride."
Keisuke lifted Maho's veil and together, they shared a passionate kiss on the lips as hologram and live crew alike erupted in applause. When they parted, Keisuke and Maho turned and waved to the cheering guests:
"Ladies and gentleman:" Miyahara announced. "It is my honor to present to you; the commanders Takahashi!"
Arm in arm, Keisuke and Maho walked back up the aisle, followed by Nakazato and Itsumi, then the rest of the groomsmen and bridesmaids in reverse order.
"Ladies and gentleman, please join us for a cocktail hour leading up to the reception." Miyahara announced as the last of the wedding party had filed up the aisle.
To be continued...
