Timeline: After 'The Second Wedding of Maho and Keisuke Takahashi, Part 5: Reception (Part 2)

Previously, on Star Trek Myogi:

And with a parting nod, she broke off from the group and headed off to seat herself.

Erika had observed the conversation, and it was evident that the conversation wasn't very involving for her anymore.

"Well, chief;" She said, placing a hand on Maho's shoulder. "The girls and I will be getting back to the wedding party table; come along at your leisure."

"Of course;" Maho responded with a small grin. "I'll see you all back there."

And now, the continuation:

As the guests and wedding party were getting full off the buffet, Rodgers got on the mic to begin the dancing portion of the evening:

"Feeling full, ladies and gentlemen?" He asked. "The bride and groom would like to commission the dance floor to help you dance off those calories and make room for dessert. To kick things off, please welcome the bride, Maho Takahashi, and her father, Tsuneo Nishizumi, to the dance floor."

Maho joined the hologram of her father on the dance floor, and began their dance number; a slow dance set to a somber piece about a father reluctant to give his daughter away on her wedding day; the dance was all the more painful for Maho in knowing that she was only dancing with a hologram of her father.

"Oh, dad..." Maho moaned quietly. "I wished things had gone differently, so I had the chance to actually dance with you..."

When the song concluded Maho and hologram Tsuneo took a bow and cleared the dance floor for Keisuke and his mother, who were up next.

"Very well done, give it up for Maho Takahashi and Tsuneo Nishizumi, everyone!" Rodgers announced. "And now, here to lighten the mood are the groom, Keisuke Takahashi, and his mother, Toshimi!"

Keisuke knew that Maho dancing with her father would be a downer party, and he had wanted the dance with his mother to be something more upbeat, and he had picked an up tempo song from his youth to fast dance with his mother to. Unlike Maho, Keisuke wasn't really irked by the fact that he was only dancing with his mother's holographic copy.

When the song concluded, Keisuke and hologram Toshimi took a bow and cleared the dance floor for the next pair up: Something he was looking forward to, as it didn't have a chance to happen at the first wedding:

"And now, ladies and gentlemen; give it up for the best man and the maid of honor, Takeshi Nakazato and Erika Itsumi!" Rodgers announced.

When Nakazato and Itsumi were announced, Tristana couldn't help herself, and she stood up, clapping and cheering.

"You go, Nakazato!" She shouted.

After Nakazato and Itsumi were finished dancing, all the other members of the wedding party came onto the dance floor.

"And now, ladies and gentlemen, the wedding party would like to take the floor for the wedding party waltz!"

Elisabeth's head perked up when the classical music swelled. She'd only been paying half attention during the dances thus far, but the waltz tune caught her attention, and she observed the wedding party's highly synchronized dance with unwavering curiosity.

Once the waltz concluded, Maho, Keisuke, Takeshi, and Erika rejoined the wedding party, who remained on the dance floor as Rodgers cued the music.

"And now, ladies and gentlemen; the moment you've all been waiting for:" He announced. "The dance floor is now officially open!"

Karen got down on her knee and offered Elisabeth her outstretched hand. "Shall we dance, Madame?"

"Oh, but of course..." Elisabeth grinned, accepting Karen's outstretched hand.

"Well, that was easier than I had been anticipating," Karen chuckled as she led Elisabeth out onto the dance floor. "So tell me, Churchill; are cute blondes typically your type?"

"I'd like to think I swing both ways;" Elisabeth responded. "For instance, even though this isn't the place to say so; the groom's a real cutie patootie; the commander sure has good taste in men."

"I'll say!" Karen agreed, stealing a wayward glance at Keisuke. "Just one look at those shoulders is enough to get me hornier than a-!"

She shifted her gaze back to Elisabeth and blushed. "U-um... excuse me; you probably didn't need to know about that..."

Elisabeth reeled back slightly at Karen's sexually charged remark about Keisuke.

"Damn straight, I didn't need to know..." She spluttered, blushing. "That's not something I like to openly discuss..."

From her seat near the dance floor, Jane grinned at the adorable awkwardness that was Karen Kujo and the sputtering Elisabeth Churchill. Still, the fighter pilot had guts to go for what she wanted, and that she hadn’t been slapped said a lot. She shook her head and leaned forward Alisha. “I might need to go rescue my fellow pilot over there, but after that, would you like to meet me on the dance floor? When the song changes?”

"I'd love to, Sugarcube." Alisha leaned over pecked a careful kiss on Jane's cheek, so as not to plant any of her lipstick on it, "Need me to distract the diplomat?"

"Maybe," Jane replied. "Watch the situation. Use your tactical judgment." She stood and made her way to the dancing pair.

“Pardon me, ladies,” she said, having made the few steps through the dance floor to the still blushing Karen and Elisabeth, who seemed to be having a hard time meeting anyone’s gaze. “I believe Ms. Kujo owes me a dance, so I was hoping I could cut in.”

"O-oh, um..." Karen glanced awkwardly between Jane and Elisabeth. "You don't mind, do you?"

"Oh, of course not..." Elisabeth responded, taking a few steps back. "Please! Take it away!"

Jane took Karen's hand and pulled her further into the middle of the dance floor. As the taller of the two, she put her right arm around Karen's waist and held her close, leading the dance. "It looked like you needed a wingmate to pull you out of there. You were in something of a fiery spiral."

"Totally, totally botched it up," Karen lamented. "I mean, what's a girl like me supposed to do? All these cute officers... how am I expected to restrain myself?!"

"No need to show restraint," Jane said with a smile and a wink. "Just have a trusted wingwoman at your side to pull you out of the fire when you misfire."

Karen smiled. "I appreciate that someone around here's got my back, Lieutenant."

Victoria smiled at all the dancing and looked over to Brandon sitting next to her, then placed her hand just above his knee and squeezed gently, "Not sure how you are with dancing, but I'm game if you are."

“Shall we dance?” Pratt asked.

Brandon held Victoria’s hand, with a twist of her into his arms.

Victoria pressed up into his palm with a pair of fingers, turning the twist he'd planned into an inside twirl, one of the ice dancing moves she'd learned many years ago, sliding into his arms as if having been formed to git perfectly.

Falling in step, allowing the rhythm to manage Brandon’s movements. All the backdrop and people dissolved around him. It was her and Pratt, alone.

Uncontrollable emotions rushed through Brandon’s body, and his engineering fingers tingled. Pratt’s hand brushed across her cheek. Once shy to dance. The Engineer’s body acting on its own, no shackles to hold back from this delight.

Pratt drew Victoria close to his chest, allowing her to drape her arms around his neck.

In turn, as he closed the distance, she did drape one arm around his neck, elbow at the base of it, even as her other arm went around his waist, "You're not a bad dancer, Brandon, not at all." She murmured into his ear, "I'm having a damned good time here, thank you."

As the dance went ahead, Brandon felt relaxed. Years back, Kirsten taught her son the basics of leading a lady on a dance floor.

In the lead, Brandon happily gazed at Victoria. He did not say a word, their bodies this close together in a slow dance. His right hand placed on Victoria’s left shoulder blade, allowing Pratt to guide her gently without being too forceful.

“I am glad. So am I.” Brandon winked at his dance partner. He was taking a one-two step, back and then forth. Then right one-two-one-two, and then left stepping back in return. Feeling Victoria’s petite, soft gentle hands in his, Brand smiled. The dancers circling the reception hall floor merrily, chatting throughout the music.

Victoria rested her cheek on his shoulder, graciously and gratefully letting Brandon take the lead. She was only 'aggressive' on the ice and in the engineering rooms, he was right that she was rather... Girly otherwise.

Bree was in a really good mood and she found herself swaying to the music despite the fact she didn't have a dance partner. She genuinely enjoyed seeing other people have a good time and although she didn't have a dance partner, currently or in the long-term sense, she knew love was something to be celebrated. It didn't escape her notice how rare such opportunities were, and she counted herself lucky that she could take part.

Since Jane had swept Karen from her and left Elisabeth by herself, the Chief Diplomatic Officer had been shuffling around the dance floor looking for a new dance partner, and she had noticed the Chief Counselor seemingly awkwardly dancing by herself, so Elisabeth shuffled her way over:

"Hello there;" Elisabeth greeted. "Scott, was it? Tell me something; have you ever danced with a lady before?"

"Hello," Brennyn replied jovially, pleased but also surprised that she had been noticed in the crowd of dancers. Considering the question, her eyes shone with mirth, "As a matter of fact, I have. I spent a lot of time on Betazed during my father's political campaign. As I'm sure you know, Betazoids can be quite the free spirits. Why, are you asking?" Scott wasn't romantically attracted to women, but she wasn't about to let social convention keep her from having a good time.

"Oh, I was just asking to see if you were interested in a dance;" Elisabeth responded. "It's quite lonesome out here by myself."

"I'd love to. I agree, it's much more fun to have a partner. What do you think? You or me lead? Or perhaps you're looking for the 'we dance near one another but not as proper partners' approach?" Bree asked, her eyes sparkling with humor.

"Oh, it doesn't matter who leads off;" Elisabeth remarked. "A dance is a dance all the same." A devilish smirk crossed Elisabeth's face: If Karen spotted her dancing with someone else, she could possibly make the other woman jealous.

Alisha watched everyone dancing from her position along the wall, a slight smile on her face. Everyone was having a lot of fun, and even Elisabeth had found someone else to dance with without arguing. As ever, her eyes took in everything she could, storing it away. She took three steps and snagged a flute of champagne from a passing waiter before returning to her vigil as a wallflower.

Maho had stepped off the dancefloor to take a moment and observe her crew dancing with the guests: She was glad they were all having a good time. As far as she was concerned; this moment right here was worth lying to the Klingon Ambassador over.

Even with the loud music, flashing lights, and people dancing, Keisuke was able to spot Maho and make his way over to her.

"Just spoke to Rodgers:" Keisuke half-shouted over the music. "He says a nice slow one's coming up; shall we go out for another spin?"

Maho put her hand to her mouth and let out a girly giggle.

"K.T., you sure know how to show a woman a good time." Maho said; a dog whistle to Keisuke that yes, she would accept his offer.
