Mission:
Indivisible
Timeline: After 'The Battle of Braxus (Part 5)'
Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:
The bridge was a mess, debris scattered and fires chattering around them. Misaka ran a hand through her hair, to discover she had taken a direct hut to the head and was now bleeding. The helm and operations consoles had been all but destroyed and the three command chairs had been thrown forward and shattered the forward viewscreen.
She was helped up by the Lieutenant who had been thrown from the helm console. One of his arms was twisted badly in the wrong direction clearly broken. "Captain..."
"Thanks Lieutenant... How bad are we?" Misaka asked.
And now, the continuation:
The engineering officer clambered over the debris and deceased bridge officers to the flickering engineering console. He winced in pain as he ran a status check. "Shields and weapons all but destroyed, we have two phaser strips left.Major hull damage. Emergency forcefields are offline. Main power is gone. Engines destroyed. Life support is starting to fail. Casualties coming in from all decks."
Misaka sighed. She never thought she would give this order in the twenty five years of commanding this ship. She tapped her comm badge. "All hands this is the Captain. Abandon ship. Make your way to the escape pods and shuttles. I repeat Abandon Ship."
She then looked over to S'Mira. "Get everyone out." She said simply as she stumbled to the tactical console. "I'll keep the enemy away as you make your escape." She said. "The old girl can still keep those bastards off your pods and shuttles."
"But, Captain-!" The Caitian XO attempted to argue.
"GO!'" Misaka shouted back.
S'Mira gritted her teeth. In the years she had known Mikoto, the Caitian woman had figured that this would be how Mikoto Misaka would go down: Something Commander Juutilainen had also suspected, for when the Scandinavian woman had turned over the XO's chair to S'Mira, she had promised her predecessor that she would do everything in her power to go down with the Ermiana instead of Mikoto...
...And now, it seemed that Mikoto's own stubbornness would break that promise.
"S'Mira to flight ops:" She tapped her combadge as she reluctant rose from her chair and began making her way to the turbolift for the final time. "Get every shuttle that still flies operational: Medical, let's get the wounded aboard those shuttles..."
Before stepping aboard the turbolift, S'Mira looked back to get one final glimpse of the bridge that had been her home for decades. However, the Caitian woman didn't take the time needed to truly lament the situation to not have Misaka repeat her final order:
[USS Europa]
"The Ermiana is reporting a catastrophic failure of all major systems," the Europa's Chief of Ops reported. "Captain Misaka has allegedly given orders to abandon ship."
Rize shot out of her seat, immediately recognizing the severity of the situation.
"Helm, bring her around!" she ordered. "We're going to try and cover their evacuation the best we can!"
"Aye-aye, Rize-Chan!" the conn officer exclaimed as she veered hard to starboard and brought the Europa alongside the stricken Ermiana.
"Tactical, reroute all non-essential power to the tractor beam and the shielding grid! Rize continued. "Ops, instruct Doctor Takahashi to ready an emergency triage in the main hangar bay!"
"Forwarding your orders to Sickbay, Captain," the Ops Officer nodded in the Affirmative.
"Captain:" The tactical officer reported. "Incoming transmission from Commander S'Mira: Audio only."
"Patch it through," Rize ordered.
"Tedeza, what the [redacted] are you doing??" Came the agitated voice of the Caitian woman. "Do you want to get caught in the blast of a warp core breach??
"I'm saving your ass is what I'm doing, Commander!" Rize answered rather bluntly. "Tactical, can you get a tractor beam lock on those escape pods?"
"We'll need to reroute power to the tractor beams..." The tactical officer responded, glancing over the Okudagram to see if there was any further non-essential facilities that Ops could siphon power from, but as it was, the list was getting quite slim just to keep the weapons and shields powered. "Any preference between weapons and shields?"
"We need to keep those shields up and running for as long as possible," Rize instructed. "See if you can divert power from the weapons systems to power the tractor beam!"
"Aye, sir:" The tactical officer nodded. "Rerouting power from the torpedo tubes..."
Rize shifted her attention back over to S'Mira. "Commander, are there any personnel other than yourself that are still on board?"
"Captain Misaka, ma'am." S'Mira's voice responded.
"Is that all of them?" Rize asked for personal verification.
"Well, I mean unless you want to transport dead bodies on board?" S'Mira grimly quipped.
"Not all that high on my list of priorities right now," Rize sighed before shifting her attention over to the Ops officer. "See if you can get a lock on Captain Misaka."
"Aye Captain," the Ops Officer replied in the affirmative.
[USS Europa- Hangar Bay]
Thanks to the quick work of Ryosuke's medical staff, Commander Tedeza's orders to establish an emergency triage in the hangar bay were fulfilled. Of course, space had to be left for shuttles and pods to land. Once survivors had disembarked the escape pods, the deck crew proceeded to push the empty pods through the forcefield and back out into space so that more pods and shuttles could be brought in.
The most critically injured were transported directly to sickbay, where Ryosuke had returned once the emergency triage was established, whereas those not as seriously injured were stabilized in the emergency triage before being guided to vacant civilian quarters.
[USS Europa- Bridge]
The Europa shuttered as it was pelted with enemy fire. While they were faring far better than her sister was right now, signs of stress were beginning to show on the bridge as the consoles began to spark and flicker, smoke sifting out from between the panel gaps.
"Any sign of Captain Misaka yet?" Rize inquired.
"Still trying to get a lock, Captain," the Ops Officer replied.
"Tactical, how are our shields looking?"
"Shields down to seventy one percent:" The tactical officer reported. "If we're going to make that extraction, we'd better make it fast!"
Rize gnashed her teeth. "Come on... just a few more minutes..."
[USS Ermiana]
Misaka struck the tactical console with a clenched fist. The last two phaser strips had failed. "Well, I guess that's it then old friend." She muttered as she lightly tapped on the wooden horseshoe. This had been her ship for twenty five years and this may be her final moment.
To be continued...
